Things I learned from this thread:

1) Meyer is the Jags coach (seriously how’d I miss this?)

2) McElroy is a douche

Lot of hate for G-Mac from Bama fans.

I’m surprised, too honestly. Turns out there are reasonable and level headed bama fans after all. Who’d a thunk?

I would like to say that G-Mac is getting better as time moves on but that's hardly the case. A lot of his takes are impossible to take seriously. Whether it's about BAMA or not, he often sounds like he's emotionally invested in the subject. That motive usually comes from petty jealousies. Greg needs to put his pride aside when talking.

Is Brent Musburger still sleeping with this guy's wife, or was that another Alabama caretaker QB.

Same here. McElroy has become a well respected analyst, and really doesn't need to stir up additional controversy over something like this. We don't need anymore media sensationalism in our news.

Tim is a good dude and I hope the best for him. But it's a sideshow, and that's what it will be come training camp time. And I think it kind of undermines what Urban Meyer is trying to build.
maybe urban is trying to take the limelight and therefore pressure off of Lawrence.

When the Jets tried him out at TE and RB, Tebow's heart might have still been set on playing QB. Therefore he might not have been 100% committed to the position switch.

This. Wasn’t that switch made mid-season and Tebow was still playing QB prior? A lot different going through camp training for a position than randomly being put somewhere you’ve never played or practiced much. Not saying Tebow will work out this time but it’s not a really fair argument to say he can’t because of what happened with the Jets. I say this as someone who thought his baseball stint was a joke

Since when does that mean Greg isn't qualified to be an analyst?

Lee Corso lost 60% of the college games he coached. Does that mean he wasn't qualified to be an analyst and critique Urban Meyer, just because Meyer won more games than he did?

I mean, seriously...you actually lost respect for Greg because he's actually doing his job as an analyst? What in the ever-loving frick are you thinking? I'm sorry, pal. That's just an utterly idiotic take. Sure, we can all disagree with him. But lose respect?

I'm not a Tebow fanboy. I'm an Alabama fan even. Greg sounds like he's got some resentment. I can't say it is an unspoken rule or anything but it is uncommon to hear critiques from teammates about what happened in practice. Struck me as a low blow and mostly irrelevant.

Greg is just pissed that he is the worst QB of the Saban era.

He was the only QB with an undefeated season before 2020.

SO Greg should not say what he thinks? How can you not believe this take is serious? Tebow has been out of the NFL for what? 7...8 years? He's playing a position he has never played on a freaking NFL team.

In spite of my being a University of Bama man, through and through, G-Mac should STFU about this.. The Jets obviously brought him in for a reason and and much as people islike him because of his Faith, it makes ZERO since to bring him in for PR reasons.. In today's society, for publicity purposes, it would be more beneficial to bring in Farooq Allah Kapernick.

Not a surprise you got the wrong team. You seem so knowledgeable.

"He's no good, he'll be a laughing sideshow." And his only evidence to all this is because they threw the ball to him in practice 10 years ago when he clearly had already said he didn't want to play the position?

It smacked of a high school recruit in Texas that BAMA didn't want to offer until Tebow said no to Shula. Greg has made a number of comments that sound far more personal than insightful at ESPN, including some of his hot takes about BAMA.

G-Mac and the Tide buried Tebow and Flarduh in 2009 and the Gators have never been heard from since.

However, I like Tebow and I hope he makes the Jaguars roster. Greg’s take was too over the top and it fits into the left-wing, democrap sports media narrative. Greg is a douche.
