Greg M. just said he doesn't think they'll pay 20 million to then negotiate with Lanning

Doesn't think that'll be an option.

Programs pay more than to buy out entire staffs when they’re fired only to negotiate their new hires

Lanning may not be the guy but not because of the buyout

Lanning's chances of winning at Oregon are much higher than keep up what Saban had going.

Lanning could be Kevin Sumlin from the 2012-13 era. I've seen absolutely nothing from him that makes him worthy.

Lost to Utah twice last year in embarrassing fashion. Lost to Washington twice this year, all with Bo Nix.

No thank you.

There are no guaranteed hires. I think Lanning might be the best option, but maybe not for the cost.

But Sark would cost a lot, too, and his career is the definition of pedestrian.

Dan Lanning is 37 years old. He's a great recruiter, was a great defensive coordinator, and he's had Oregon winning 10+ games in his first 2 seasons as a head coach. They lost to Washington, the national title runner-up, by a combined 6 points this season. Basically every advanced metric has Oregon as a top 6 or so team this year.

No coach is a guarantee, but he looks about as promising as anyone out there at the moment.

Bama hasn’t had to pay a buyout in what 17 years. They could if they wanted to.

He’s not enough of a slam dunk to pay a 20 mil buyout. Hire any other comparable candidate and spend 20 mil on assistants and NIL.
