Also get ready for good SEC teams with 10-2 records and high SOS to be left out so they can put in mediocre teams from other conferences who literally played no one.
The SEC and B10 won’t allow that long term. The ACC and B12 are basically leftover P5 schools and mid majors they have filled empty spots with. This will especially be true once FSU and Clemson leave. They are not going to keep a status quo of the SEC getting 3 teams and ACC getting 2-3 with first round byes for teams that aren’t even ranked in the top 12.

I actually think the expanded playoff created more excitement during the second half of the season, not less.
I just don’t like that SoS plays no role.

Make scheduling great again!!!

Or in SMU’s case you schedule a fellow mid major with an old name brand conference logo on their jersey (BYU), lose, and still argue to get in.
They won’t even do that anymore. Imagine if they played UAB and were undefeated in the regular season with a SOS of 80+, there wouldn’t even be a debate. The CFP committee is literally about to ruin 25-30% of the sport that many of us love. The basketball committee is light years ahead of the intelligence of the CFP if they put SMU in. Put USC in, they beat the team that SMU couldn’t and actually have ranked wins.

Non-conference schedule is dead. Byrne better be cancelling all future P4 non-conference games as we speak. SOS of 60 is still eligible for at large
