I know this will reign downvotes, but hear me out. While Fromm has improved this season his upside is limited. I know he has some mobility, but Fields truly will scare teams having to account for his running and passing ability.

Conventional wisdom says stick with Fromm, but I think the elite coaches know CFP is moving in different direction. Clemson, Ohio St and Bama went with guy with the higher upside same with Notre Dame over the veteran. It's easy say that we're going to contender next few years but you have take advantage of opportunities even if it's collateral damage.

4 of Top 5 team has first year starters or a player who played limited time in Haskell case last year.

I agree, starting Fields this weekend would be their best play. He's athletic and would give the LSU defense fits. He needs to play the entire game.

Alabama didn’t pick Tua bc he has more upside, they picked him bc he’s flat out better, same with ND.

We all know Fields is the future.

We are playing both right now.

Two QB system working alright for the moment.

Like Greene and Shockley except Fromm is better than Greene and Fields is better than Shockley.

Bama was outplayed 3/5 of that game against Georgia...Tua bailed us out and got lucky on some throws not the game winner. I'm just saying teams will be equipped to stop Georgia running game. We haven't seen Fromm put his team on his back yet just be a care taker and not f things up.

Watching the UF game, Fields running the speed option to the short side would be a nightmare for LSU.

UGA could drop 30 running nothing else.

right

here is what I posted on the UGA board a few weeks ago:

Y'all remember the regular season game against LSU when we had Green and Shockley? 2003 IIRC

When Shockley went in, the Tigers pinned their ears back and we were harassed on offense, couldn't move the ball, it was ugly

When Green stepped in, the LSU defense had a changed attitude & played more reserved. Showed more respect if you wanna know the truth

My take is that we are looking at the same type situation

DJ wound up being the better athlete and QB, but was not ready for prime time early

We have not seen Fields in a big time game against a quality opponent

Is he ready to be "the man" in a way that DJ was not this early in his career? We don't know. But we do know that Fromm for damn sure is

You boys need to chill out

I heard that Matthew Downing kid is pretty good. They should give him a shot.

Clearly you haven’t watched our games because Fields isn’t ready yet.

Swift had to push him under center on a play because he was erroneously in the shotgun.

Until fields can get us in to the right play pre-snap, he won’t start. Fromm is seeing 3-4 plays ahead, Fields is seeing what’s right in front of him.

It’s a bad time to start Fields with the next 4 games being tough. Maybe you try and play him half the game against UK and Auburn then have him start . Georgia could win a championship with Fromm at QB but they are more likely with Fields . QB will be the biggest difference between Bama and Fromm .

Well, this might be the understatement of the day.

I need to see more of Fields. Is he a legitimate QB or an athlete playing QB?

Field's is better than all of them, at least physically. I wouldn't start Fields right now, but by the end of this year I would be surprised if he wasn't taking at least 40% of the snaps. It also wouldn't surprise me if he won the starting job by the end of the year if he gets a legitimate shot to win it.

The problem is Fields' inexperience and Fromm being better pre-snap.

BAMA had Tua and Hurts in the game at the same time.

UGA copies BAMA, so they’ll probably try the same thing.

He's got a legit arm, it's just a matter of learning to trust it instead of wanting to tuck it and run most of the time because that's what he's always done and it's worked for him.

Thanks. But, he will need more than a big arm to beat the best teams. Off the hoof, he definitely looks the part. I just have a LOT of reservations about kids that have come up as read option QBs and them adjusting to high-level college football.

It's kind of the same with Jones here

We all know he is the future starter for UF. But he isn't ready. Fromm is more than capable so Fields can sit and learn.

Yeah, bench a QB who took you to the NC as a freshman, and has a higher completion percentage and QB rating as a sophomore. Plus he’s lost but two games in his career. Yeah, bench that guy.
