I don’t know his specific area of recruiting, but your WR room seems plenty talented enough.
Hankton was the actual lead recruiter on only 1 of the guys in his room.
Again, Monken took over coaching the receivers last season and is the primary reason why we’ve gotten the production we have out of that group.

I don’t know the ins and outs of the room so I really can’t argue, but 247 shows him as the primary recruiter on Pickens and Jacksaint, as well as smith, morrisette, bell for 2022. But that could be wrong.
Anyway, I think his recruiting job will be much easier here, as there are at least 2-3 4 star receivers coming out of LA every year, and he will have either direct connections with those guys, or help from guys like Frank Wilson.
I think more than anything this is just Brian Kelly getting more LA ties to help him recruit.

Sorry let me rephrase. None of his *meaningful* assistants came with him.
Honest question here: in hindsight, wouldn’t you rather have hired Napier?

1) No.
2) They’ve been head coaches at their respective schools for what, a month? How is this hindsight?

They were planning on it, had Freeman not got the HC job.
According to them anyway.

He was my third choice.
Can't really say Napier has made any "better moves" than Kelly has at this point.
Only time will tell.

I like Hankton more than most of our fans do, but his relationships with our WRs is not a new issue for us.
People have talked about Hankton being our worst recruiter and position coach we’d most want gone for a while, granted, I think it’s very fair for us to point out that WR is going to be the most difficult position to recruit for us based on our offense. On top of that, the rest of our coaching staff is/was absolutely stacked and are in line for coordinator positions, not lateral moves.
I thought McConkey and Mitchell were great this year, and it’s not Hankton’s fault we had so many injuries throughout this year. Our WRs also became significantly better blockers throughout the season and Hankton deserves credit for that.
He was much better for us this year, and obviously our OC Monken helping out with WRs made a big difference, BUT he showed a lot of improvement in the coaches room and if he continues to do that, y’all will get a very good WRs coach.
(Hopefully that take at least helps)

What did he do so horribly bad?
Entrenched receivers are wanting out and planning to transfer. That typically doens't happen when you just won a title unless there is strife and their is rumors of strife with him specifically.

Nope, he's been in talking circles for a while related to half our receivers who are starters wanting to transfer.
