watched your qb have a difficult time throwing into tight windows yesterday.
Very few D’s can force uga to throw into tight windows. Uga is one of those.

Also, Burton was your difference maker at WR.
Pickens was our difference maker and he barely played last year.
It was AD Mitchell who had the national title winning catch.
When did Burton make that kind of difference?

I’m not arguing that. I think a first time head coach will take some time. I don’t think I can be clearer that I like Lanning and will cheer for Oregon in every other game. I want him to be successful.

Nix isn’t the starter right now. It’ll be hilarious if he transfers only to ride the pine.

Nix made huge strides in mechanics but he’s never been in a position where he could be comfortable in the pocket. He had some happy feet last year but not like he had his first two years.

How is he not the starter?

Oregon has the athletes on defense to force tight windows.

Perhaps, but based on what? 2021 Oregon was 42 in the nation in pass d efficiency.
You also underestimate the quality of our wrs:
Ladd and AD both at least matched the impact of burton last year, and Kearis Jackson outplayed burton in 2020. All 3 return.

Don’t go by a Spring Game, especially with a QB whose ability to make plays with his feet. Taking that half out of equation makes a big difference both in defensive strategy as well as in practice after snap. I also think Bennett usually needs a couple of stupid plays before his good traits kick in. I do think the familiarity of both staffs with each other along with a whole offseason to prep will cause wrinkles. I am most concerned about safety position for GA-Cine’s ability to set everyone up right and play his own position will be tough to replace. ILB will also be tough to replace the leadership of Dean, but I think the replacements are at least pretty close in athleticism to him. Not sure that is the case at Safety.

That was my feeling last season about him. He just seemed a bit more settled and confident. If y'all had had a good Oline I think he would have broken out last season and done well. (Obviously just my opinion and pure speculation) It will be interesting to see how he develops.

How much do you know about Oregon’s front 7? Seriously. I watch way too much CFB. So, these kind of comments fascinate me.
I know that subjective opinion is usually wrong especially when it comes to evaluating your own team. I’ve been there too. Michigan’s o line won the Best O Line in the country award last year, throughly dominated Ohio State, has a DE going in the top 5 overall - possibly #1, and another DE who will be picked in the top 35 picks —- and they were throughly dominated by UGA’s front 7 last year. Doesn’t mean they didn’t have Great players.
There’s a difference between me saying UGA has a lot more talent than Oregon does and saying Oregon is bad. UGA has amassed crazy talent and depth the last 5 years the Oregon hasn’t — I fricking hate Georgia I am not saying this with a smile on my face — I think Oregon is a talented team, I think UGA is way more talented. And I think they win the game by several TDs.

Burton and Pickens were my two favorites to watch, but I agree with your assessment. He (Burton) was always dinged up and could never flourish. He has all the tools, but he did not make the impact he could/should have.

Oregon’s front 7 is almost entirely from the 2019 class and after. The 2020 year in the PAC was almost a lost year.
You combine that with an extreme outlier on the number of games missed due to injury and a new coordinator, they underperformed. Oregon had a once every 20 year injury event.
Wright and McKinley are the only losses on defense. Thibodeaux was healthy for maybe a game and half.
Oregon went and got an all PAC corner to replace Wright. Free safety is absolutely our biggest need.

I think they win by couple TDs also. That said, they had a historically good front seven last year and unicorns at DT and OLB.
Oregon will end up giving up 200 on the ground. However, it will come in fits and starts until the 4th quarter.

Tell us about it. We know how that is. Depth is very important, as our top 5 pass game proved last year.

So you think they will improve in pass d because of experience and healthy?
The same applies to our offense, which fooled your eyes last year.
The difference at this point is our guys have done it at a top 5 level, and yours haven’t.

Bennett is a low-ceiling qb. That won’t change.

Are you saying his ceiling is his 2021 stats because it’s impossible to improve with more experience, more practice, and a healthy WR corp?

I am saying if a defense can tighten the windows, your offense is more like to sputter than Bama’s or Ohio State’s. That’s all I am saying.

Fair enough, but Much easier said than done. Do you think it is likely to be done?

I think Oregon needs to move the ball for that to happen. I think Oregon will make it tough for parts of the game. I think it’s going to be a 2 score game though.

With the new rules that allow for paying players, Oregon should be in a good spot to represent the PAC 12 in the playoffs with Nike $$ behind them, but I don’t think they’ll have enough to stay with Dawgs 4 quarters; unless they can build a lot of depth through the transfer portal…
