Bama deserves a lot of credit for finding a way to pull it out after getting run ruled in game one. That’s hard to pick yourself back up from.

It seems to happen fairly often among somewhat evenly matched teams. LSU run ruled Arkansas this weekend yet just lost to Arkansas. In the second game of the 2023 CWS finals Florida blasted LSU 24-4 in game two to tie the series. A lot here celebrated Florida’s impending championship. LSU won game three 18-4. When you are getting your doors blown off in game one or two it ends up saving pitching for later in the series. I also think it wakes one team up while giving the other team a sense of complacency.

I mean a lot of this is what that was. Bama flung their Sunday starter out there to open the series for a reason. They were preserving their core.
