Tough to replace safeties that have a natural knack for being around the ball, and ones that tackle well in the open field.

Elam will be missed sorely, luckily we're signing 3 freaking studs at the position this year that will be huge playmakers for us.

I hear ya. I am holding out hope that Harris can fill that role. Elam kind of went unnoticed until this past season, but you can easily make an argument that he is the top Safety to ever play at Florida.

Poor man's DJ Swearinger.
Haha, Jk. I'm glad Elam is gone and to me, when a rival fanbase says that about one of your players, it's a huge compliment. Looking forward to seeing where he lands in the draft.

My favorite player in CFB this year. When he let Odell Beckham know he was going to put him to sleep I was sold.

He brings the pain. No doubt

Better overall, but Elam hit everything.

He was an insane hitter.
I could definitely see him becoming an "Ed Reed" type of player in the NFL.

It's hard to make that argument considering what safeties have played at Florida.

I'll be surprised if Elam and D.J. Swearinger are not the first two Strong Safeties taken - they are both big hitters, run support type guys who can cover.
I know we're going to miss D.J. These big hitting guys typically are good leaders as well because they lead by example and are recognized for their fearlessness by their peers.

Elam is one of my favorite gator players ever and he will certainly be missed. He wasn't exactly the best cover guy ever or anything, so in that way, I think that Florida can replace him, but his leadership, play making ability, and sure tackling and giant hits will certainly be missed.
Losing Josh Evans too is a big blow.
He made a lot of TD saving tackles this year.
