Yes he was. And, ironically, there are calls to bring former OC under Zook back ... Larry Fedora.

Given their resources, yes, they should. But again, like I said, that's not exactly how building a football program works.

You clearly don't know the history of the state of Florida and why they suddenly had three major programs arrive in the 1980s. Alabama and LSU had 50-75 years of program building on any of them.

I'm from the state of Florida. I'm well aware of it's history. Your post only further proves my point. My point being (again...) that Florida was a mediocre/bad program for the majority of it's existence. 20 years of success doesn't change that. Bama and LSU are better programs, no question, but times have changed and 17 year old recruits don't care about anything they weren't alive to see. Also, when you consider the sheer size of the talent pool in each respective state, I hope you can see what I was trying to say.
My post was a compliment to LSU and Bama and a put down to Florida, so I don't know why Bama and LSU fans are all up in arms about it.

The University of Florida has no plans to fire Will Muschamp, even after a monumental loss to Georgia Southern, a source close to the program told The Sentinel on Sunday.
However, significant changes to Muschamp's coaching staff are expected after Saturday's season finale against Florida State.
quote:
After Saturday's loss, Muschamp called his team's offensive ineptitude "infectious" and seemed to distance himself from offensive coordinator Brent Pease (read more here).
"You’ve got to change the scoreboard offensively," Muschamp said. "You’ve got to be able to change the scoreboard, and we just struggled scoring points offensively. It’s been a week-in, week-out occurrence."
Orlando Sentinel...

So am I and you should realize that Florida's talent pool has become very diluted with the substantial improvements of smaller programs in the state. UCF is an excellent example of why UF is really starting to struggle in recruiting. FSU still has the best recruiting base because they basically own the Northern part of the state. UF used to have central and South Florida but, that area is getting smaller.
UF has had quality football from 1980-last year. You may be on a significant slide if big changes aren't made fast.

So if he sacrifices Pease, what good OC would come to Florida with the good possibility that the entire staff will be fired the following year?

Yeah, well, except for the fact that NO team competes for conference and national titles every year.
When will people ever accept this reality?

I understand that. You're still not understanding. There's zero reason (IN THEORY) UCF should have any bearing on UF's classes. They are UCF and UF is UF. But then again, Bama is Bama and LSU is LSU. FSU wasn't on the radar until the 80's (then again, neither was UF really)
Look, all I meant to say is that Florida isn't the program it's fans think it is and that they will never be Bama or LSU as much as they want to be or think they should be.
By the way, I am not a UF fan.

I figured that much.
Here is a history lesson for you. Florida has traditionally been divided up into thirds. Miami has always had South Florida. UF has traditionally had Central Florida and FSU has traditionally had North Florida. In the last 20 or so years, those lines have become blurred and lots of other programs recruit heavily in Florida. Lots of talent is going out of state to programs including LSU. Patrick Peterson and his brothers are good examples of that.
UF is not bringing in the big time talent like they used to get. Muschamp has been good at getting some skill players but no quality on the lines. He is also not developing what he has.
Add in the smaller programs like UCF and USF and this spells disaster for UF. This is why CWM should have been fired today IMHO. This program is in big time trouble if they don't change their situation.
Also, factor in the arse whipping that FSU is going to hand them next week and you have a full blown crisis at UF that will have an affect on them for years to come.

Dude, we are agreeing with each other. On paper, no one in the SEC has the advantages UF has, but football isn't played on paper. THAT is my point.

Florida has had four top 5-10 classes in a row.

I'll quote myself here.
CWM is a disaster at player development and his lines are horrible.
