Swamphead is another great brewery. Not as kid friendly as First Mag which maybe a plus for a road trip. It is on the same road as Embers, so it would be a great spot to grab a beer or two before your reservation.

Black Adder is a great pub that brews its own beer. The owners are super friendly. In the past, they had a food truck for food.

If you want Mexican, La Tienda or El Indio are both great and near the campus on 13th. La Tienda is more authentic.

Hogan's is the best place to get a deli sandwich and a beer. (Cash Only like Satchels)

Best breakfast local spots are 43rd street deli (2 locations) and Country Foodly (far from campus). Metro diner and Kiki's are good for chains

If you go to Tijuana Flats, do a beer slide and yell "Go UF Rugby, BloodSweat&Beers sent me" They love it.

Not sure what bars are still open.

Edit: If you are flying in or out of Tampa or Orlando stop by Pearl's BBQ in Micanopy. BBQ in a gas station, what could be better. Better ribs than Adam's IMO. Brisket and Pork is also pretty good.

This new? I don't remember this place when I was in school

They have been in Gainesville for over 20 years and at that location for at least 5. Terrell's
They used to be on NE 16th Ave by DG but moved to Waldo Rd.
Fat G's is another BBQ joint that's pretty good but he's in Williston. He told me that he plans to run a mobile truck restaurant in Gainesville soon. I'll believe it when I see it. He says a lot of things...

I was disappointed in the tailgating on campus just a few years back; However, gametime was special. I really enjoy a rowdy Gata crowd!

Flacos has good Cuban sandiches if you are drinking downtown late.

I graduated in 15 and don’t think the social was there yet. From what I’ve seen it looks like a good time.

The Salty Dog is the only place to go in mid!

Or the LSU guys can go to balls and feel right at home.

Pretty sure it was there, but called something different if I remember correctly.

EDIT: Yes, it was there, but it was called Gator City (or Gator Shitty as we referred to it )

Yep lol. Ya gator city was arse!

I think it was completely demolished and rebuilt into the social.

It’s wild how different things are since only 5 years ago.

My favorite thing about Gainesville now is the food. Tons of good options. A lot of food trucks as well are on point.

I will have to try it.
Another place that I heard is good is Dick Mondell's. It's located in the old Golden Buddha restaurant building across from Porter's Quarters on SW 4th Ave.
The food in Gainesville has come a long way since I moved back to Florida in 1997.
Back then it was bad. Very bad.

Don't you live in Hawthorne or something? Nothing wrong with that. Just asking.
