We have a reservation tomorrow night at Embers and heard Fat Daddy’s is happening

Embers is good... but when in Gainesville, the Sonic is not to be missed. For the best in dining when money really isn’t an issue, you can get a better meal from the local Whataburger.

.... but I do warn you against the local bacon or sausage... you know... Hogtown and all.....

It really depends on what you want. University Ave is where it's mostly at I would guess. Around 17th St and University Ave is right next to campus and Main St and University has pleanty of places you can walk to if you just take an uber there. Madrina's, Loosey's, Lillian's. Plenty of places to check out here. If you like dive bars I guess Mothers or the Salty Dog. No idea what is open or closed due to COVID.

Maybe someone who is a student can chime in.

Here is a list with a map, but it has to be a year or so old because the Swamp was just torn down.

All kidding aside, I’ve eaten at Loosey’s... it’s good pub food / atmosphere. So is Cry Baby.

I have no idea what is open it available with the sars shite though.

Sorry no Whataburger in Gainesville.

I have heard Dick Mondell's is good.

Yep... Newberry Rd ... I don’t remember how close that is to the university area though.

Don’t be silly. Gainesville isn’t nice enough for a whataburger. Seriously though.

Embers is great. Fat daddy’s is a blast but it’s primary crowd is south Florida greek life on coke, worked there for a few years and wasn’t really my crowd but you’ll have fun regardless. If you’re goin to the game I’d stick around that strip of bars “midtown” since it’s right across from the stadium.

For food Embers is fantastic for sure. Also really enjoy Volcanic Sushi and would highly recommend trying it before leaving. As for bars..been awhile but I'd guess the Social is good.

I haven't been back to Gainesville since graduation almost 6 years ago, and I really hope these places are still open, because they were fricking amazing (in no order):

Adams BBQ and Rib - Best BBQ place in Gainesville IMO, about a 5-6 min drive from the stadium

Satchel's Pizza - Best pizza place in Gainesville; truly unique place to eat. Absolute must if you've never been to Gainesville before

Mothers Pub - Dive Bar with an Irish-ish style. Typically full, but with carona who knows.

First Magnitude Brewing Company - Awesome brewery. Very relaxed crowd, great beers, great staff.

Tijuana Flats - My favorite Taco place in Gainesville. Great deals on Taco Tuesdays, usually not as crowded as other places (at least when I was there) on Gamedays

Relish - Best burger place in Gainesville IMO. Absolute must for me and my buddies in College after bar hopping.

The Top - Lots of people love this place, Wasn't one of my favorites, but decent food and atmosphere.

The Social - Had some awesome (and dumb in my youth) times there Expect a mostly college crowd, don't really know what its like with carona.

Yamatos - go to place for Japanese food in Gainesville.

Yamatoes is way behind now everything else is spot on. We really stepped up Asian Fusion recently in Gainesville.

If you don't mind getting food from the side of the road, Terrell's BBQ off Waldo Rd is a much better choice.

The Pizza isn't. Atmosphere definitely changed a bit from when I first started school there, to when I graduated. Can't put my finger on why, but still its legit, and a place you need to visit at least once if you've never made the trip.
