M&M are simply selling the company line: ESPN is salivating over that game & once it happens, with a bama win over the dawgs, get ready for the next 43 days to be nothing but pure hell for those who hate either/both programs. If you want professionalism/lack of same, compare how Herbie restrains himself from "promoting" the Buckeyes, where he & his father were captains & his wife a cheerleader, to how Golic shamelessly pimps for his & his 2 sons' school.

If Bama makes it, and I'm not sure they will, they will get another disappointment in the BCSCG a la GOTC II.

Not so much. Bama is obviously in a rebuilding year. They lost a lot on defense but would have great offense with more innovation in play-calling. With Saban's coaching they are a very good team but I don't see them as a great team.
I pretty much see ND the same way. They have a solid defense but their offense is not impressive. ND has had mediocre performances against some pretty crappy teams: Purdue, BYU, Pittsburgh, and Boston College. The Irish were lucky to pull out an OT win vs Pitt who has a losing record. They have beaten 4 opponents who were ranked at the time they played them but MSU is no longer ranked and Michigan has 4 losses. And USC was obviously hugely overrated now with 5 losses. I will say this: their OT win against Stanford was impressive especially considering Stanford knocked off a very good Oregon team.

They were gifted that Stanford game bigtime by the officials and only beat Pitt because Pitt's kicker couldn't make a chipshot FG.
ND has had insane luck this year but there is nowhere to hide in a NC game against Bama/UGA with a month plus to prepare. ND simply doesn't have the same caliber of athletes to keep up.
There is a reason ND would be listed by Vegas as an underdog to all 6 SEC teams in the Top 10.

Agreed this will happen if Bama beats UGA. So if this happens I will unplug my TV and not watch any college football until August 2013.

It's not our fault that Alabama and Notre Dame are (arguably) the two most storied programs in the history of college football.

can't blame 'em, tho. if I were a broadcaster I'd be hyping up whatever was being shown on my employers channel. It will just be easier for them this year bc there's already a built in history with this one. I'm sure they'd all like to see profits go up and their paychecks to get fatter. Who wouldn't! lol That's what their job is.

and the ref completely missed the fact that Notre Dame had two players both wearing the same number on the field at the same time during that play, which is a defensive delay of game penalty and should have given Pitt the first down.
