I think the real, actual one was '71 Nebraska/OU or some ish like that.
I don't know if Miami over Nebraska for their first national title ever makes that list, but it's one of my favorite.

There have been several of them. It is when #1 plays #2 during the regular season. 1993 Florida State/Notre Dame and 2006 Ohio State/Michigan are other examples.

This would probably get more love if Florida didn't beat OSU like a drum in the title game.

I think this loses points because it didn't affect the national championship in the end.

Not necessarily. I'm not talking about big 1v2 games, I'm talking about games that are actually referred to and hyped up as, literally, the game of the century. You can't declare that before the game is even played simply by rankings. If my recollection is accurate, the "accepted" GOTC is that '71 game. I don't think every game between 1v2 just makes the cut automatically.

Sometimes I think UGA fans have it bad now but I can't imagine the misery tOSU fans had to live with after being taken to the woodshed in back-to-back years.

they have become the SECs whipping boy, minus the flagship, but i think i'd rather UGA being notorious for fricking up in title games than not making it. like the braves. at least tOSU has gone 3x in 2000, which is more than we have done since 1982

Bama vs. Florida '09 SEC Championship game at the Dome. #1 Undefeated Florida coming off a national championship and #2 Undefeated Alabama trying to avenge a loss from the previous SEC championship game. "Tebow's Tears" game. Mark Ingram's performace sealed the Heisman. This was the first time any conference championship game had featured two undefeated teams.
