So Ole Miss would apparently go to the SEC Championship game, lose to Florida, and then make the Sugar Bowl? I know it happened last year, but I just don't see it this year. If Alabama, LSU, Georgia, or any other SEC schools have the same # of losses as Ole Miss (assuming they lose the SEC Championship game), I just don't see the Sugar Bowl picking Ole Miss.

So, Phil did pretty well going by that.

The SEC West screwed all of those publications though, but who would have thought LSU and Auburn both would tank. I sure didn't.

GOBAMA, if there's one thing everyone should have learned by now is that the West rarely goes as expected. One team at the bottom will surprise and one (or more) at the top will probably tank. It's always fun to see how it plays out.

If we loose the SEC Championship to Florida, there is no way in hell they wouldn't pick Ole Miss. It is extremely delusional to think otherwise. Plus Ole Miss is known to bring a crowd to bowl games. Whoever looses the SEC Championship will be going to the Sugar Bowl.

And it would be fun to whip Ohio State's arse in the Sugar Bowl.

Last year was the 1st year that the loser of the SECCG went to a BCS game.

You guys that are saying you can't see Nutt winning the west, remember something; The guy won it 3 years out of 10 in Arkansas! he also has the most talented team he's ever had, yes better than the 06 team at least according to him.

The scarey part about it is there is alot better defensive talent particuarly in the front 4 than he's ever had in his recruiting base now so there is a good chance they'll always be better than he was at ARk.

The 2006 team was not that great. They were a good team, but we got mighty lucky multiple times to end up with that 10-4 record.

After getting embarrassed by USC, we almost dropped our SEC opener against Vandy. If I remember correctly, the Commodores came up about 1 yard short on a LONG field goal due to the wind that would have given them the victory.

Winning the Alabama game was a fluke. Leigh Tiffin handed us that game on a silver platter.

True, we did defeat Auburn, who was #2 at the time, soundly. We played great that game.

In the SC game, Dick threw a Hail Mary at the end of the half that was knocked around in the air before Marcus Monk somehow caught it for a touchdown. This made a huge difference in our 6 point win.

We then proceeded to work Tennessee and fall into a 3 game losing streak to end the season. Tough losses to LSU, Florida, and Wisconsin where we just couldn't come out with the wins.

The 2006 team was very good and could hang with almost anyone in the nation, but they were far from great. Hell, if those lucky breaks had fallen the other way, we would have just been looking at another 7-8 win season.

Do I dislike Nutt so much that I can't see any way in hell OM wins the West? Regardless of schedule, I still say they go 4-4 in league play...

The answer to that is yes.

Georgia went to the Sugar Bowl in 2007, no?

Edit: Georgia didn't go to the SEC Championship Game, but they were #2 in the SEC. So it's not unlikely for the #2 team in the SEC to go to the Sugar Bowl.

He does do pat himself on the back a ton, but you also have to remember that most people had florida coming in second in the SEC east and Phil had them winning the NC.
He's the only magazine that didn't pick Ole Miss in 5th or 6th in the west, and the only magazine that picked State's failure.
He goes way more in depth than any other magazine.
His only Miss in the west last year was Auburn really.

So what do you think the LB core will be like?

McClain is a lock at Mike.

If Hightower is at Jack, where does that leave Upshaw? and who will take over at Will? Maybe Nico Johnson?

I really hope this is Jerrell Harris' year to shine at Sam. He showed his athleticism at A-Day, but i've heard he's having trouble learning plays.
