From a Bama fan...Tua was the best where it really mattered to me. What he does in the NFL has no bearing whatsoever on how incredible he was while playing for Bama.

I wouldn't say that. Sometimes throwing a QB into a starting role when the organization from GM to HC is dysfunctional can ruin a young QB. I think this is what happened to Tua, in my opinion.
Who knows how many young QB's have been ruined by being drafted early and not having by year 2 a quality roster around him due to incompetence relative to drafting and signing free agents by the GM and HC.
