Sad situation but I’m going to say it - cowardly on his part to run from the justice system by killing himself.
The problem is the way you narrate this makes it sound like he had no guilt for what he did. What if he was mentally struggling from the guilt of killing someone in an ACCIDENT? You chose the most damning narrative possible and ran with it.

Excuse me for questioning his character.

Suicide is always a shitty situation for everyone involved. It often tears families and friends apart due to guilt and anger.
Sorry LSU fans

Am I wrong? He killed someone and ran away once. He couldn’t face the consequences so he took the cowards way out. I hate it for the families involved but it’s selfish on his part. He’s now ruined the victims life and his families life as well.
Do you want the lowest moment of your life discussed as means to justify your death on a message board when you die? We all know the situation, it’s fricked up. But it is not up to any of us to judge him, I believe God has that covered.

It’s a message board and I’m stating an opinion. He had no problem running when he killed an innocent veteran. It makes it difficult to show remorse in this moment.

When the celebrity is gone and the highs of competition have faded, it can be tough to adjust.
My hope is in this evermore connected world that celebrity fades for all as they are just people like anyone else. I think that in itself will help people adjust to life after your 15 minutes have concluded.
Prayers to his family.

Go “wander around the campus” some more.
I’m sure you woo all the students.

This. It’s really disappointing to see how brazen some folks are on a message board.

I have very mixed feelings on the situation. Definitely a tragedy on many levels and a warning to young men who feel the illogical need to use the highways the rest of us use to get to work and feed our families as racing courses.
I highly doubt he woke up that day and said “I’m going to use my car today to kill somebody random.” But the entitlement he felt as a famous athlete with some cash and on a clear path to fulfilling his NFL dreams led him to make the stupid decision and habits which led to this. This wasn’t a one time dumb mistake. He probably drove like that every day.
Then the consequences took everything away… the only future he ever planned for, the guilt of recklessly killing someone, letting himself and his family down. Not only was prison coming, but a life after he couldn’t conceive of possibly wanting to live in compared to what he had.
Think about this the next time you get angry in rush hour because someone cut you off or you had a beer too many at the restaurant and don’t want to deal with the hassle of having to pick your car back up in the morning.

Rest in peace; obviously this was a terrible situation all the way around.
I am a little confused by some of these news articles. Some say he had been charged and had posted bail and yet a grand jury was to start convening Monday. I am guessing he was only arrested following the incident and that the grand jury was being convened to determine what formal charges, if any, were to be levied against him; otherwise, it would not make sense to convene a grand jury.

This is the last thing I will say in this thread: May his family and his soul find peace.
