However, none of that will matter if it's just the cops that are expected to do better. If folks don't treat them with respect, don't behave better and don't make any attempt to be better then this is all for naught.
One side changing will do absolutely nothing but make it harder to find good people that want to be cops. The other side must change too.

Good for him. The flag and the national anthem should be a place where we can unite for a moment and pay homage to the ideals our nation strives (doesn't always mean it lives up to it) to embody as well as the men and women of all races who risked or gave all to allow us to continue to pursue our dreams.
People who come on here and say "What's wrong with him protesting" are missing the point. Few if any people have cared if he protests. They care about when he chooses to do it. I don't walk into churches, cemeteries, etc. and protest, even important things. Show some respect.
As to the cause, I surely do think that there are cops out there that don't give black people a fair shake. It should be addressed. I also believe that those cops are also the only think standing between many young black men and burning their own communities down. Look at Chicago. The irony is that the people that are usually being protected by those cops in the shootings isn't a white community, it is the black community.
CK comes across as an ignorant clown because he does the following
1. Sits during the anthem
2. Wears a t-shirt with Fidel Castro onit
3. Wears socks with pig cops on them
4. SAYS THAT HE DOESN'T SUPPORT THE COUNTRY IN A PRESS CONFERENCE
On top of it he lacks the self awareness that this country is a place where a young black man in dire straights was taken in by a loving white family, went to college, and made millions of dollars. Doesn't mean it is perfect but it isn't North Korea either.

They attack that aspect because the reason he is protesting is an uncomfortable conversation for them.

I think a big issue is the selection process of officers. Many years ago police officers could handle their own. Officers today are most likely short with a small man's complex, they were the guys that were bullied in HS because they were strange, nerdy types and many are emotionally unstable with an authority complex. These short officers can't even take most woman down, so they are immediately in fear when a man is involved.
40% of police officers have domestic violence issues at home... 40%. up to 4 times higher than the general public. They have a much higher suicide rate, up to 70% suffer mental health issues, poor health, etc. Police officers need our support, no doubt but that does not mean we should not hold them accountable for poor judgement.

That is not based on any fact anywhere, by any independent or university study.

It's funny that you mention that. Before his football career took off, Q. Dial was a criminal justice major with plans of becoming a police officer or state trooper. I think he could handle his own.

And....if you are concerned about equality for others what are you doing?

Yes, we have issues with policing in America, primarily in the follow on training aspect. However, if he really wanted to highlight a legit problem, why not focus on trying to change these statistics.
Please don't confuse liberals with stats and facts.

Sorry. But I am going to have to see a link that supports this statement. I find this very difficult to believe.

I looked it up and there have been two studies suggesting the 40% mark you mentioned. There have been other studies that suggest it is closer to 24%.
The question for me would have to be...why the BIG difference? I am wondering that definition they are using to describe Domestic Violence? Interesting topic.

It's creating a conversation on the topic, and maybe opening some eyes, so I wouldn't say it is doing absolutely nothing.
