My god, are you actually suggesting Daboll didn't leave on his own

Did you see them interact on the sidelines? You think Saban was some sort of Daboll fan-boy or something? I promise you Saban didn't lose sleep either way with Daboll.

The knock with Daboll was that he wasn't a good recruiter. This is an opportunity for Saban to upgrade in that department without question.

Nick Saban knows himself better than anybody and recruiting is why he is The King. His words not mine.

“Do you think you’ve hired the best coach in the country?” the 55-year-old Saban asked Moore.

By this time, with Moore’s agonizing, month-long quest to pry Saban away from the Miami Dolphins having finally come to fruition, the AD was feeling a bit punch-drunk. He still didn’t know his new coach very well, still found him hard to read.

“Why, Nick, of course I do,” Moore said, while thinking to himself: For $4 million a year, I sure as hell hope so.

“Well, you didn’t—I’m nothing without my players,” Saban said, locking eyes with Moore. “But you did just hire a helluva recruiter.”

Nick wants no part of being average thus Recruiting has to be great.

This was very apparent when Hurts was still playing QB in November.

Show me the footage of all the times he yelled at Kirby or Pruitt.

Yes, Saban let's his coaches hear it when he's unhappy, but there are some who do things the way he'd do them - they just think similarly to how he thinks - and he's rarely snapped at them b/c in his mind they "get it".

Who will recruit the panhandle of Florida now? Pensacola used to be hotbed of talent but has become a total dump over the last 15 years, both for football talent and in general

Nothing to buy into my man. Daboll still owns a home outside of Buffalo. He went to HS and college in that area. It's home to him. I don't think he "ran from Saban". I think he didn't like the college game (i.e. recruiting) as much as he liked the pro game.

All I'm saying is that I doubt Nick Saban was stunned by Daboll leaving. I'm pretty sure he knew it was coming.

As for him not lighting up Kirby, that's just a fact. Saban lights up coaches who make calls he deems "questionable". Kirby was always so similar to Nick in his thinking that in 10 years there were very few times we ever saw him chew Kirby.

Who cares? Saban certainly doesn't. He'll just keep winning over your
Pathetic team.

With the condition of y'all's athletic program, I'm surprised any hogs even frequent sports boards, much less give a damn.

Y'all chew on this...it comes from Cecil Hurt and You can take what he says to the bank!

"Earlier this week, I reported that former Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze had been in Tuscaloosa and at UA to meet with Saban. Saban respects Freeze’s offensive mind, and given the fact Ole Miss gave Alabama fits during Freeze’s tenure it’s easy to see why. So what would Freeze’s role be if Saban hired him? It’s a great question and one that, as of Tuesday morning, hadn’t been settled upon yet. Saban is really pushing for Freeze to be an on-the-field coach, The Tuscaloosa News has learned. Others in the program don’t want that happening. How much autonomy Saban has in this particular situation is unknown given Freeze’s recent history with the NCAA. Another aspect to this is that should Alabama decided to hire Freeze as an on-the-field coach, it would likely need the blessing of SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey. Sankey isn’t keen on that happening, The Tuscaloosa News has learned. At the moment, Mike Locksley appears to be in good position to land the offensive coordinator job, but nothing is certain. Normally the offensive coordinator works with the quarterbacks. Locksley is currently the wide receivers coach. As you can see, there are lots of moving parts at the moment and that speaks to how much Saban wants to or is open to shaking up the staff. Chris Weinke could be a candidate to coach wide receivers or quarterbacks should he get an on-the-field position. Freeze could do either, too, if he gets the nod. Freeze could also end up as an analyst, which is what most people are speculating as the most likely result. Again, right now things are moving quickly and nothing is decided.

More moves
Tight ends/special teams coach Joe Pannunzio will be moving to an off-the-field position, The Tuscaloosa News has learned. Pannunzio has been out on the recruiting trail this week, but I’m told this move is going to happen. Alabama has hired former Texas A&M coach Jeff Banks to be the special teams coach. Karl Scott, an assistant coach at Louisiana-Lafayette, has interviewed for a position on the defense. (AL.com was first to report this Tuesday morning). That hire is not official as of the moment, but it could be at some point during the day.

Shaking it up
As I previously reported, Saban wasn’t content to go into another season with the status quo. Recruiting is driving most of these decisions. Saban wants assistant coaches who will work hard to continue to bring the best talent in the country to Tuscaloosa. With recent SEC coaching changes, the competition for that talent is getting cutthroat. This is one of the most tumultuous offseasons I can remember during the Saban era in terms of the coaching staff. It’s moving fast and furious. And it’s not over yet."

He didn't need Tua at that point. Not sure what you're trying to say here.

Just because you can win with an inferior player at any position doesn't mean you should. It is a disservice to the more deserving player.

It'll be ok man. You know, it took me about a month to get over losing the NC. Then maybe a week or two after the spring game to deal with the aftershocks.
