I think the parity is pretty blatant. Clemson doesn’t use the portal, and now they are getting their arse whipped by teams like SMU and Syracuse who almost exclusively use the portal
There have always been good, non power teams. People are just looking at it through some type of muh parity lens now.
For all the Texas Tech hype, they haven't been really great until this year:
2022: 8-5
2023: 7-6
2024: 8-5
2025: 8-1
They had a better stretch than that in the late 2000's, and were in a better conference back then too.
2005: 9-3
2006: 8-5
2007: 9-4
2008: 11-2
2009: 9-4

Naw it is parity, the depth of elite programs is getting hallowed out from guys wanting a bag or playing time in the portal
UGA and Bama would be beating lesser programs by more than 3 points on a routine basis if there wasn’t more parity than in the past

I cant wait to see your spin when the final 4 are Oregon, aTm, Indiana and Texas Tech.
Oregon has been a power for awhile now, A&M has the resources, they just haven't had the coach.
The other two are possible, you folks act like non power teams have never made the final 4 before. TCU literally played for a natty a few years ago, Cincinnati made the final four in 2021.
Now suddenly, you think everything has changed.
It's pure confirmation bias.

If you think the logo is what draws in players, then you're just dumb.
Bama, OSU, UF, LSU, UGA, Michigan, ND, USC, Texas, OU, FSU, PSU
Zero chance Saban or Meyer would stay at any school not on this list. Not even if that school had the top facilities in the nation. Not even if they were the highest paid coach in the nation
Without the logo it was impossible to keep your coach. Without the logo and coach it was impossible to draw in the players
The old days Cignetti and Kiffin would 100% be stolen by the top schools with open jobs. If that isn’t a clear example of how times have changed im not sure what to tell you

Utah has retained their guy for awhile.
Chris Petersen stuck with Washington and never moved up.
There have always been outliers.

Sure, but you think this is only happening at the smaller schools?

BYU won the national championship in 1983.
Good luck topping that.

Don't move goal posts.
They are not a traditional power at all. They have never won a championship.
If any team wins their first title ever or the first in 50+ years.....your entire position collapses.
Honestly, to 'compete' really just means making the final 4 really but we already know team nothing has changed will only accept actually winning a NC as 'competing' for one so we will wait until that happens.
It won't be very long. Less than a decade until at least one non power school gets a title.

A mythical championship.
Make believe.
Beauty contest.
Not a REAL championship.

At no point in history were schools limited on how much they could pay coaches or who could hire them.
You are mostly talking about the schools who built the sport and have been putting money into their programs for decades. In other cases, you just don't recognize the schools that started putting money into their programs.
UF didn't win their first NC until 1996, Spurrier built that program up. LSU was an easy win most years until 2000 when they hired Saban and started spending money on their program. Florida St was a nobody before Bowden, and they managed to keep him around.
The only thing Indiana has done differently in the past is they spent money to keep their coach. The same thing other teams have done in the past to get to the next level.
Nothing you are claiming is new.

Nobody gives a shite about your loser excuses. If you want to have a real conversation about college football, I'll take the time to debate it. If you just want to be a loser bitch who cries about history, then go frick yourself.

LSU wasn't a traditional power until Saban came along either.
If you start spending like a power, you can become one. And A&M has been doing that, now they just need the right coach. Maybe Elko is that guy.

Everything you're pointing to as evidence of this "new era" has literally already happened before.
Michigan State has made the final 4, Washington has made the final 4 twice and played for a natty, a literal G5 in Cincinnati has made the final 4, TCU has made the final 4 and played for a natty.
ETA- That's completely leaving out Clemson's rise

Oregon has made the playoffs multiple times and played in the NC game multiple times as well.

Weird how it doesn't show in recruiting rankings, on the field results or basically any where.

I don't think this is true at all. Go look at the 2025 class. 1. Texas 2. Georgia 3. Alabama 4. Ohio State 5. Oregon 6. Michigan 7. Florida 8. Auburn 9. A&M 10. LSU
High school recruiting is mostly the same. The big difference is all of these top teams will lose a significant number of those players to the portal, while years past they would mostly stay and ride the bench. Yes they still initially sign them, but if they don’t play they’re gone. So it inflates those numbers. The portal talent is also undervalued. The players who never played at the big schools are usually dropped in value even though we have no idea how good they are on the field. The players from small schools who’ve played as starters for 2-3 years have incredibly valuable experience that is hard to quantify
Yes you would rather be one of these 10 schools getting the pick of the litter. But the floor has been raised at schools like Ole Miss, Texas Tech and Indiana who can fill roster holes that were near impossible to fill in years past

No, I'm pretty sure I hurt yours the other day by pointing out Ole Miss doesn't have any legitimate National Championships and you are still melting over it.

Sure but the elite programs can also go poach a lower level starter or someone else to fill a hole where they may have a recruiting miss.
Suddenly, a school like LSU has two Heisman winners they wouldn't have had otherwise.
Or Miami can poach a Cam Ward, etc
Ultimately, the rich just get richer.
