UGA doesn't ride a star player to success. Not this year and not really at any point during Kirby Smart's tenure as our head coach.
Yes, injuries are never good, but Smart has tried to build UGA with significant depth so that when we lose a player it doesn't spell doom for our team.
For example, one of our CB's who was a starter for the first 9 games of the season entered the transfer portal before the SEC championship game. He was a 5-star.
Did it matter? Not really, the pass defense was still good enough. It didn't help but it wasn't something we couldn't handle.
We lost our starting QB against Texas. Still pulled out the win. Why? Because the next 3 guys on the depth chart are of equal talent. They just have less experience.
UGA isn't immune to injuries... but we have a whole lot of padding for them.
Even with Brock Bowers injured much of last season, UGA still went undefeated in the regular season. And he's the closest thing we've had to a "irreplaceable" player over the last 5 seasons.
We may not win the national title... but we may not have won it healthy either. it won't be because of an injury.

I think that game makes a great case as to why the conference title games aren’t worth it in the 12 team era. Entertaining as hell though.

This is not a good look for you.

Dang, dude. You baited the hook with 2,300 year old material and still limited out in less than an hour. That’s got to be a sRant record of some kind.

So, you are saying you are glad your team got beat?
Or are you saying your team felt winning the game was not worth the cost?

I'm not glad we got beat.
I'm not saying our team paid a cost, really. I can't recall off the top of my mind any real injuries-- maybe a Bond reaggravated ankle?
Good luck in the playoffs moving forward, DawgsLife!

Lordamercy, what kind of moon crack has invaded Texas now?

Tennessee folks are cool. If it weren't for their insecurity around us being the real UT, it would be totally honkydory.
Just got back from Knoxville actually. Good people.
University of Georgia is just Georgia Pacific Toilet Paper soft.
UGA fans really pack the PF Changs at Lennox mall to watch the game. Very rabid fanbase you guys have been able to build the last 5 years.

Until Texas figures out how to run the ball and protect the passer against our defense (or any other talented unit), it’s going to have a very hard time winning.
While it is not surprising to see so many Texas fans so happy over someone getting hurt in a game what is somewhat surprising is the number of Texas fans who do not realize A). UGA was nearly criminal in the way they have physically handled both sides of the LOS against Texas in not one game but 2 and B). UGA has beaten them twice this season with some pretty lousy play from UGA QBs. If UGA had lost about 2/3s of the offensive and defensive lines it might make a contest between UGA and UT more competitive but lacking that it is highly probably that UGA would beat UT a third time this season with some dude out of the stands playing QB for the Dawgs.

who knew beating a team 2 times in 2 months would break the entire fanbase, fascinating to watch
Presumably they are mostly Texans. As such they are already broken, they are merely waiting for the unavoidable assault on their overblown self-image that sends them spiraling into darkness.

I was in the stadium on Saturday and say about 80% of it being UGA fans. Didn't see many texas fans.
