Most defensive minded head coaches want a running game to win top & keep defensive stats high. Saban is an exception. He just wants to win & realized several yrs ago you gotta score to win. Kirby going after offensive talent more today.

It’s a good sign imo… Leach was the reason that offense worked… no reason to keep around staff members.

What part of putting a staff in place that will fit whatever system he wants to run is a rookie mistake?

I literally said he has every right to hire his own guys. Wtf? But he’s never done this before and he’s 30-something and wet behind the ears. He ‘COULD BE’ making a rookie mistake. Maybe, maybe not. I know many career decisions I made in my early 30s I’d totally do over. As for this dude, we’ll see.

P.S. His demeanor, attitude and behavior in the bowl game was unprofessional and questionable at best. He looked totally out of place and unprepared for the moment.

So he should keep people on staff he doesn’t want or believe in, just to maintain the status quo? That sounds more like a “rookie mistake” to me.

Any specific behaviors you can point to? Or was this just a general vibe you got?

I think he’s done a great job so far stabilizing a program in uncharted territory and I really have no clue what demeanor you’re talking about

I don't think that's the case. He likely wants people who share his football philosophy and vision. Every head coach has that prerogative.

I don't hate it, some of the offensive guys on Leach's staff wouldn't be coaching anywhere if he wasn't the HC

Do you think this is simply an indicator that he plans to change the offensive scheme, or a indictment against those particular coaches?

If the new OC is going to be hired and he would need to let him do the hiring of the offensive staff. That would make sense. Most OC would want his own coaches that would fit his schemes.

Damn, leading off with the Ace card!!! Man, you don't change staff members for a couple of years when things start going bad so you can buy yourself another 1-2 seasons of good money

Nah, Jason Washington is the only one I’m even a little concerned about, he’s a great recruiter and maybe retained from reports anyway.

Went to college with him and got to know him real well. His girlfriend and mine were very good friends. He’s a hell of a guy and I always knew he’d be great as a coach

Head coaches bring in their guys. It’s a business at the end of the day. He will bring in guys he trusts to help with the program. Different philosophies. I hope it works out.

Yes against LSU.
