I have seen LSU and Auburn fanbases talking about Florida being on an upswing. If it were just Florida fans talking about it, I would dismiss it. But to see others talking about it, I'm curious. I don't see it right now. Until Mullen has a badass QB, and until Grantham gets a 5* safety, 5* jack linebacker, and a 5* nose tackle, I just don't see Florida breaking out of the second tier. Sure, they will have a competitive team, but they had competitive teams under Mac and Mus too.

What is all the hooplah about? Is it just Georgia fatigue?

Serious question.

It’s just people A&M people mad that Texas won and Auburn and LSU fans getting in their shots.

ETA: Florida lost to Mizzou. A definite downswing.

His improvement in one year with a bad QB.

He has a two very good QB recruits. Both Jones fit his system better than Franks.

The assumption is. With less talent he did a lot. So when he adds more, including a good QB, he is very dangerous.

Also Mac didn't have competitive teams. We got blasted by any school with a pulse.

Grantham
Has been on point this year. He's grown. As a coach. He seems to have lost weight. Florida isn't Florida from 2008 but they're gonna be good next year.

I think Mullen is a damn good coach. He took MSU as far as they could go. He produced some good teams there.

I also think Junior at UGA is a joke. He will recruit well, but won’t do anything with it, like Richt.

Their recruiting is very underwhelming thus far. Until they start bringing in the 5* players, I’m not too worried about them getting back to prominence.

Agree. They have lost like 5 underclassmen to the draft and have the #17 class. I am more worried about Pruitt

Last time the dwags won a natty was 1980. I'll bet all those t-shirts and caps have been moth eaten or rotted by now. The Gators will be back and the St Johns River will suck them back up into that penal colony where they belong.

Until he starts recruiting top 5 classes it’s wishful thinking. We are all playing 2nd fiddle to Bama. Georgia is the closest but they don’t have the coach. You can’t beat Bama by trying to out Bama, Bama. Georgia is just spinning there wheels until the get an innovative offensive guy. Mullen will have to recruit better to give us a shot.

Mullen is an exponentially better game day coach than Kirby is.

Saban at Bama is better than everyone. The question is can UF win the East first. I believe yes.

Taking out Bama is a whole nother ball game. Luckily..Saban is likely done in a few years I highly doubt he is here in four years. However; Mullen with a lot of talent could challenge Saban in an off year by scheme. Similar to Gus.

Do SEC rings not count? He has only been coaching three years.

Lol no.

Kirby went 8-5 with losses to Lyle, Vandy, and GT his first year after inheriting a 10 win Richt squad.

Mullen went 10-3 after inheriting a 4 win squad

Spurrier routinely waxed LSU with 3-stars. It’s all about coaching.
