First rational USC poster I've seen on here. Until now, I didn't think one existed.

i dont see how this compares to the USCw investigation at all. that involved 3 different sports over 2 seasons. Bush was involved in forming a sports agency with a bunch of other people and received financial assistance throughout his college career. the total lack of attention over this span of time and failure to report anything got USCw effed

for UF this sounds like it involves one player, at the end of his career a couple weeks before he was declaring for the NFL draft. you guys are all way too excited. vacate the sugar bowl whatever

I will believe it when I see some bank statements. Anybody can make an allegation. You telling an agent would risk his career and a player his reputation on order to get paid two weeks earlier? Word is this claim of course was made anonymously.

The only problem UF may have is if they knew about the money before the bowl and still allowed him to play. This sounds somewhat similar to the Andre Smith situation IN THE SAME DAMN BOWL! What's up wit dat???

It'll be interesting to see how much heat the NCAA puts on his twin that's still at UF. I bet Urb & Co. will make him account for every dollar he gets these next few months.

Why is this so hard to believe? We just witnessed a married AD at an SEC school drink and drive with an ugly ho's red pantys in his lap. The day before he was set to get a raise, too.

Wait a minute, the Gators signed seven kids from that Lakeland High team. UF had actual knowlege, not just suspicion, that Rainey had a past history of accepting improper benefits. And why would anyone think that the other six hadn’t received similar offers and made similar acceptances?

If I were UF I'd bury the NCAA in paper work they had on him and his brother to try and keep them from looking at the other players on the roster.

Former Florida Gators center Maurkice Pouncey plans to deny allegations that he accepted $100,000 from the associate of an agent between the 2009 Southeastern Conference Championship and 2010 Sugar Bowl, according to ESPN’s Joe Schad.

Pouncey, who is currently being investigated by the NCAA and University of Florida for a potential rules violation, has “provided phone, bank and credit card statements that do not show large payments,” Schad reports.

The No. 25 overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers, he and his family plan to deny the allegation of accepting an illegal monetary gift on Tuesday.

In an interesting twist, Schad notes that the letter sent to tip off Florida about the 2010 Rimington Trophy winner “contained photographic evidence of an alleged runner for an agent in social situations” and was postmarked in Canada.

Pouncey also told investigators that a Cadillac Escalade and pieces of jewelry he owns were purchased after the draft with a deferred line of credit, similar to what LeBron James’ mother Gloria received when her son was on his way to the NBA. These possessions were shared with his brother, senior center Mike Pouncey, on occasion.

ProFootballTalk.com adds that “a separate source with knowledge of the Pouncey family tells us that, in the source’s opinion, it’s 99.99 percent likely that the Pounceys did not accept cash or other benefits from an agent before [his] eligibility expired.”

“We were made aware of some information in early June that we reported to law enforcement and we then shared with the NCAA and the SEC,” Gators athletic director Jeremy Foley said in a statement Monday morning. “At this time we have no information that has indicated that there are any compliance issues for the University of Florida.”

They'll simply have to vacate the Sugar Bowl win...unless something else is discovered.

at UF or maybe some other schools need to be worried:

quote:

"Things could get worse with the schools that have already been reported, and I wouldn't be shocked [if stories broke] at two more schools in the very near future," said Heitner. "You hear things every year. The difference this year is that it seems as though enforcement is being taken seriously."
