I feel sorry for him in the same sense that I would feel sorry for an otherwise good person getting pulled over for DWI. You can be a perfectly good, honest person and still have a lapse in judgement and make a mistake - especially when under immense pressure.

I can see his train of thought, needing to perform at his best to win the starting job and then getting almost "trapped" into doing it long term to keep the results you showed during that time. Not to mention leading a popular NCAA football team to a 6-0 start and having all eyes on you. It would be hard to quit and risk your play going down the shitter with all that pressure on you. There's no arguing that he didn't know it was wrong to begin with though. It's just one of those things that you never foresee happening to yourself at that age - especially in his position - like the aforementioned DWI.

I don't know you can actually credit Mcelwane with taking the high road here. Florida was obligated to immediately suspend him when they become aware of an athlete taking a banned substance. Failing to act could have put them in a position for severe sanctions if it came to light. Apparently, UF has appealed to the NCAA to have Grier reinstated

Florida didn't suspend him. The NCAA did. They weren't given an option and given the chance to suspend him or ot suspend him. The NCAA randomly tests players during the season and postseason. Grier happened to be one of the players that was selected, and he failed. If Florida is appealing his suspension, that should be a pretty clear indication the suspension was not their call

Cool. He can get pretty much any legal supplement he wants from the athletic department. Why would he go on Amazon and buy something?

Good points for sure.

But I won't lose an ounce of sleep over this as others are suggesting.

My "heart" certainly does not hurt for him.

As Omar puts it "you mess with the king, you best not miss". In this case the NCAA. How could they not get him the heads up to get clean?

It's my understanding that stuff doesn't stay in your system very long anyway, if they only test a couple times a week, cmon.

Can't catch a break? That's your response to a guy who got busted cheating? Are you from Ferguson?

This has nothing to with catching a break.

Tell that to Nick Chubb man.

He made a conscious/extremely stupid decision and he is paying the price for it. Chubb is probably out a calendar year for no good reason at all, simply playing hard.

That is what I call not catching a break, not getting busted for PEDS.

Great. Now Florida has an excuse for losing and this will be added to the list of "meaningless wins" for LSU this season.

Sorry I am late to the party and I don't want to read 15 pages, but did he test positive BEFORE the Mizzou game?

Apparently some poster on GaitorBait posted something that said something like that? Again, sorry for being lazy

Edit: kansas once played Mizzou in football with what should have been an ineligible player. kU was forced to forfeit later on.

From everything I read - he tested positive and the team knew about it Thursday - just wanted to "wait" for the verification test to come in....is what I've been reading.

Wait seriously, this wasn't just OTC- it's OTC and was legal last season.

Um... DWI is a bit different in terms of danger, impact, and knowledge of illegality- this wasn't even banned last season.
