Do you equate,” no one cares” simply because it doesn’t align with your position?
Just a small sampling of this board shows plenty of people care.

So what? You've appointed yourself as arbiter of the correct compensation level for a group of people. I don't know why.

So have you. Do you not see that?

Where is the cost line? How much is all the equipment? Practice gear, game gear, game day staff, nutrition, weight facility, strength program, meeting facilities, locker room, rec center? How much are the players being charged for the use of the nations best personal trainers and nutritional advisors? What is the monthly fee for the world class workout facilities?

2019, the last pre-covid year, LSU football generated just under $57,000,000 in profit. All of that profit was, in essence, retained by the school and none of it went to the player in the form of income. So let's just say for the sake of argument the players and school agreed to split the profits equally. That's ~$28,000,000 to the players. Again, for arguments sake, lets say you divide that equally among 85 scholarship players. That's roughly $330,000 in income owed to each player. That's not a bad yearly salary.

But to act like the got nothing is absolutely crap.

The argument isn't that they get no "value" for being a college football player. They do. The debate is do they get reasonable value relative to the revenue generated?

If food, a shared apartment, equipment, access to world class facilities were seen as reasonable value relative to the revenue/profits generated in pro football, NFL players wouldn't demand millions of dollars in annual salaries. But, I suspect they may not be all that eager to play professional football if the league and each individual franchise was bringing in tens of millions of dollars in profits in large part because the efforts of the players while the players received almost none of those profits in the form of income.

No, I don't. I'm describing the current state of affairs. Revelator is saying that he doesn't like that state of affairs, and thinks it's wrong. The farthest I will go is to say that I believe that players should be able to profit from their NIL. That's not appointing myself as arbiter, and if that's a controversial opinion for you, I don't know what to say.

Actually, you’ve already gone beyond this by implying the courts ruling on NIL is Carte Blanche to buy players.

You think saying people should get what they are worth is the same as saying people should get a set value and like it?

You simply reinforced what I previously posted.
You are the type of person that If someone has a different opinion than you, they should simply just go away instead of you trying to rationally rebut or consider their position.

Fair enough. I would agree with you here. I think the scuttlebutt comes when you try to figure out how to handle or manage it all

Ok so basically this is not amatuerism anymore and if we are gonna let it walk, talk and act like a duck then dont give me chit when I treat it like one. Gone are the "take it easy they are just kids" bs and its for the love of the game crap. Phuck that. Do away with grade requirements. Do away with scholarships. Make it minor league and get it over with. Let them Unionize and have a collective bargaining agreement. LEt schools negotiate contracts instead of LOI. IF we are gonna pay them then lets do it legally and with rules of engagement like the NFL, NBA, and MLB. No poaching, No tampering, no bs. IF you want to kill college football then lets do it right parade it out to the square and slit its throat and let it bleed out for everyone to see so there is no mistake what is happening. This all started because some UCLA basketball player was trying to say he wasnt getting residuals from a Video game because his jersey number was on the game not even his name. Im a free market guy but dont piss on my leg and tell me its raining. Even the free market has rules smh.

Just get a minor league system for all sports and let college go back to being about education with sports.

You don’t believe a person should own their own NIL?

UCLA sure did because they would not allow EA Sports to use theirs in the game without just compensation. So why shouldn’t Ed O’Bannon be compensated for the use of his? Then again, maybe it was just a coincidence EA Sports chose to depict a 6’8 bald black man wearing #31 playing forward for UCLA in their game?

Designed or not it didn't take that much foresight to see where it would lead. And while I agree that it has diminished the greatest sport on earth I just can't criticize these kids for taking the money.
