It’s been a rough week for the Florida Gators, and it seems like it may get even rougher based on some social media activity on Sunday night.

DB Chris Steele, the Gators’ highest-rated 2019 signee, entered the transfer portal this week. A report surfaced that his decision stemmed (at least in part) from not being able to change roommates. His roommate at Florida was QB Jalon Jones, who also entered the NCAA transfer portal before it emerged that two women had accused him of sexual assault in that same dorm room.

Now, though, several Gators are going after Steele on Twitter, with a few receivers posting pictures of themselves making catches over Steele:
quote:

Many other players reacted to Grimes’ initial post, so it’s clear they’re using Steele’s departure as a rallying cry.

If Steele did indeed leave Florida because the Gators wouldn’t let him leave a room with someone accused of sexual assault, these tweets from current Gators aren’t going to age well.

So gatorbait what’s your take on this?

Glad he's staying. Coach Kelly hates quitters.

This is exactly the boost Mullen was looking for in his recruiting efforts.

A former transfer trashing an outgoing transfer on social media with the rest of the team joining in. Good shite.

Coach Kelly likes a guy that won't take no for an answer.

Yeah. I mean, you never really wanted him, right? Probably a few more you wouldn't mind seeing leave. Trim the fat...depth and talent are way overrated...

You guys just took a transfer from a 2-10 Louisville team at defensive end who's originally from Georgia.

No we wanted all of them. Not sure you understand the meaning here.

I think he’s referring to anytime a player transfers there is a portion of the fan base that acts like “we” never wanted him, “ we” are better off.

I know, I was kind of trying to make a joke because Carolina has been a destination of Fla ex pats like Auburn has for UGa, but now I am having to explain so it obv went right over the OP's head.

I never say, "We didn't want them." That is ridiculous, we want them all.

Gatorbait2008 is one of two things:

1) The village idiot - the one you feel embarrassed is part of your family.
2) An alter of a Georgia fan - no one is possibly this stupid in their posts except for Georgia fans.

You guys can take him, either way. I’m still surprised Straws let’s him post on the Florida board.

Imagine only have 29 catches in your career and trying to shite on a freshman cornerback.

It's weird because Grimes was a transfer who left Ohio State after one year. Wonder if he got the same treatment on his way out.

He transferred because he wanted to be closer to his mom who has cancer...

So the players are every bit as trashy as their fan base.

No surprise there.

So, he’s already gone through the transfer process in order to be closer to home because of a serious matter. I guess calling him out on social media once he’s already gone is better than understanding his position and wishing him well.

Maybe Jalon Jones wasn’t the only freshman Gator that the team disliked.

But did any baseball player say anything bad about him...maybe OSU has a spot open for him.
