Give him a little credit. Took some balls. But also took 8 million a year or whatever he’s raking in

Inland Florida might as well be another planet compared to the glitz and glamour of West Palm, Merritt Island, Jupiter, Ft Lauderdale and South Beach. Then on the gulf side you got very nice areas like Ft Myers/Bonita Springs/Cape Coral and Naples

LSU is not an elite job by any stretch. Thanks to Nick Saban they are at least above average at best.

They are still in a talent heavy state. So is Florida and UGA. I wouldn’t put them at number one but certainly in the top ten

What is shite weather to you? Never had issues here. Besides the rain almost daily which all cities in Florida get.

How many ND HCs have been worth poaching?
And yes, you guys went all in on the ONLY ND HC with over 100 wins, but zero NCs

And it seems to be working out so well

Fake news of course. He wasn't offered any job, maybe asked if he was interested. Thank you Touchdown Jesus if he told UF "No!"

I'd take pretty much any climate on earth if you offered me an additional $5M a year to do so.

Could have been a lot worse had we hired Billy Napier.

How are Okalohoma and LSU top tier jobs but Florida is not.....OU has more natties so I can see but they are pretty old. UF and LSU are very, very close. Nattys, SEC titles, head 2 head record...close as hell.

In state competition for athletes and permanent rivals. Also, LSU has had more sustained success than Florida over the course of our history. The 90’s were just complete arse for our program.

ND, Bama, OSU, Georgia, Tejas, maybe Michigan, LSU, Oklahoma. those are the prestigious jobs. Flawda is close but not to the top tier. I’d put them there with USC or Penn State or FSU.

quote:

Tell me what other coaches besides Spurrier and Meyer have won big at UF. If it were that easy, one of their four or five recent hires could have won one there. Since 2000, here are your national champs *2000 Oklahoma *2001 Miami *2002 Ohio State *2003 LSU/SoCal *2004 SoCal *2005 Texas *2006 Florida *2007 LSU *2008 Florida *2009 Alabama *2010 Auburn *2011 Alabama *2012 Alabama *2013 Florida State *2014 Ohio State *2015 Alabama *2016 Clemson *2017 Alabama *2018 Clemson *2019 LSU *2020 Alabama *2021 UGA *2022 UGA *2023 Michigan *2024 Ohio State Florida has two championships in that same time frame as LSU, Clemson, Ohio State and Georgia. Bama dwarfs them all but to say Florida has some huge advantage is not completely accurate. You can blame their ADs/AAU whatever you want to. But that state competes with so many other OOS schools and in state schools that it’s really difficult to build a consistent winner there.

So you are using the "most recent titles" as the metric for a prestigious job, ok lets look at your list in order:

ND - Zero
Bama - 6
OSU - 3
Georgia - 2
Tejas - 1

Michigan - 1
LSU - 3
Oklahoma - 1

Flawda - 2
USC - 1
Penn State - 0
FSU - 1

Not listed by you:
Clemson - 2
Miami - 1
Auburn - 1
