Everyone who watched that 1984 SEC season, which included me, as I was 15 and a diehard LSU fan, knew Florida was getting clobbered by the NCAA.
Charlie Pell got fired 3 games into the season because of all the shite that the NCAA released on Florida.
LSU played in the Sugar Bowl that year as the team with the best SEC record who wasn't a blatant cheater.
LSU actually should have been awarded the SEC title that year. Under current rules, they would have been.

Yeah the AP is a Poll. College football was played 60 years prior to its existence. The AP had nor has governing authority. It hosts no championship. It’s comprised of sportswriters and it wasn’t the first or even the most prominent poll until well into the 1950’s. It damn sure had no more significance than any other polls in the early 1940’s.
UGA had the best record, UGA had the heisman trophy winner, UGA won the Rose Bowl, and had a better resume by every metric than OSU. UGA was named NC by 8 of 13 recognized services of the time. They left for war. When they were all gathered again in 1946, they were the only undefeated untied team in the country.

You're twisting yourself into a pretzel. It's clear YOU either didn't know about our vacated title or you didn't know that LSU was forced to vacate every win from the 2012-2015 seasons because of cheating.

I’ve seen the sign. It’s evidence of what Dooley claimed, not tve university. Dooley was the AD, and he had the sign made. And it’s no accident it shows his championship and only his championship. There are numerous newspaper articles from the 40’s evidencing that the university and the team celebrated the NC. The sign stood for about 5 years before it was removed BECAUSE he caught grief that it didn’t recognize the 42 team (or the 46 team).

Because the SEC told us after Charlie Pell got fired that if we didn't appeal the NCAA's bowl ban we were still eligible to win the SEC. Just like 1957 Auburn and 1974 OU. Hope this helps!

SEC Championships are awarded by the SEC based upon defined criteria…they aren’t claimed. And hence They can’t be unclaimed. All NC are claimed and utterly subjective until you get into the BCS and really the playoff era. And those still aren’t awarded by the NCAA.
