Well since about 1990 we've been pretty good so that's 22 years. LSU sucked in the 80's and 90's. I was born in the 70's so I don't care about anything before that.

Ok, I think this entire thread is retarded, but you are completely delusional.

We sucked in the 90's. Besides that we've been decent to good every single decade. We easily have a better history than UF, and its not even close. We're #11 in all time wins. UF is around 20. We have more SEC championships, and more recognizable national titles according to the NCAA.

Again, this thread is ridiculous, because I think UF was every bit as good as billed and deserved to win tonight. But to claim LSU isn't a historic national power means: 1) you were born in 1990, or 2) you started watching college football yesterday.

Most experts agree that cfb officially started in 1990.

you turn the ball over 6 times, have almost 100 yds in penalties and you deserve to win? how so?

i say neither team 'deserved' to win. it was down to whoever committed the final frick up. and that was uf.

Because I've seen Florida play good teams. I know their talent. I've seen UGA play a (as in one) good team. They got skull dragged. The better team lost. It happens. Congrats on your win.

I disagree, UGA was definitely the better team (especially on offense). Their defense finally played up to the talent level that they have.

I get what you're saying, but what I'm referring to is the two teams coming into this game. If each performed as they have over the first half of the season it should have easily been a UF win. That's all I'm getting at.

Not to turn this into a LSU bashing thread but whoever said they were good in every decade needs to look at the record. According to another thread on TD here was their record in 1970's and 1980's. Not the worst record but not national championship material.

1970 Charles McClendon 9-3 (5-0)
1971 Charles McClendon 9-3 (3-2)
1972 Charles McClendon 9-2-1 (4-1-1)
1973 Charles McClendon 9-3 (5-1)
1974 Charles McClendon 5-5-1 (2-4)
1975 Charles McClendon 5-6 (2-4)
1976 Charles McClendon 7-3-1 (3-3)
1977 Charles McClendon 8-4 (4-2)
1978 Charles McClendon 8-4 (3-3)
1979 Charles McClendon 7-5 (4-2)
1980 Jerry Stovall 7-4 (4-2)
1981 Jerry Stovall 3-7-1 (1-4-1)
1982 Jerry Stovall 8-3-1 (4-1-1)
1983 Jerry Stovall 4-7 (0-6)
1984 Bill Arnsparger 8-3-1 (4-1-1)
1985 Bill Arnsparger 9-2-1 (4-1-1)
1986 Bill Arnsparger 9-3 (5-1)
1987 Mike Archer 10-1-1 (5-1)
1988 Mike Archer 8-4 (6-1)
1989 Mike Archer 4-7 (2-5)

I don't think we even need to get into the 1990's. Plus I never said Florida was great before the 1990's hence only 22 years of good teams.

Yeah LSU fans have never been cocky. Your team has sucked for decades and have been good off and on for about eight years and yet you act like LSU has been great for decades so just stop with the nonsense.

That is Florida irrelevant till sos.

3 out of 20 years we were under .500 and you conveniently left out some of our most successful years in the late 30's, 50's/60's.

I would say 9-2 is good though. Call me crazy. We'll have to agree to disagree. Remember, these weren't the years when teams went undefeated. Try thinking outside of the BCS era box.

Also, #11 in all time wins trumps any argument you offer.

They must think SS invented football. I know its hard to believe, but this sport has existed for over 100 years.

All I said was that LSU wasn't that good in the 80's and 90's. Okay LSU was good in the 1930's. Congrats.

I grew up in LA during the days of Mike Archer, Curly Hallman and Gerry DiNardo (that takes care of the 1990's).

I would agree with people that before 1990's UF wasn't very good (maybe a good team here and there). I just think it's funny that LSU fans like to rub losses in people's faces when LSU hasn't been all that good in the lifetime of people 40 and younger.

Although the past 8-9 years for LSU have been pretty incredible and I'm happy with that.

Not quite. Your original quote:

quote:

LSU fans (and Saints fan) act like they always been good when they've really on been good in the past 6-8 years.

I'm simply proving that we've been good for far longer than the past 6-8 years.

Okay LSU was good before WWII. I believe most people on here are 50 and younger (maybe I'm wrong) but that would mean that LSU has not been a good team for most of our lifetimes (except the last 8-9 years and a good year or two every now and then).

I'm really tired of going back and forth and so we will have to just disagree. Nothing wrong with that from my end. I will still pull for LSU over anyone but UF.

That's fine, no worries.

Same for me. Always had a man crush on Muschamp since his LSU days, and like your team. Will be a huge Ole Miss fan in the coming weeks, as I think UF deserves to go to ATL as much as Bama does.

I think most Gator fans weren't expecting to go 7-0.

I had a blast laughing at their fans when we beat them in '03!
