Amherst vs Williams
The first college baseball game was played in Pittsfield, Massachusetts in July of 1859, 44 years before the first World Series.
quote:
Williams and Amherst agreed that the game would be played to 65 “tallies” (or runs), and that each team would consist of 13 players. And since each inning lasted for only one out, the game went for 25 innings before the 65-run mark was met.
quote:
Williams took an early 9-2 lead in the game, but Amherst was the first to 65. Yet they didn’t stop there. Due to a lack of a mercy rule, they piled on eight more runs before the final out, going on to win 73-32. And for good measure, the two teams played a chess match afterwards, which Amherst also won.

It’s about the appreciation of history.
Nothing more.
You’re probably older than me. Age is a state of mind.
I remember my Dad and grand father and that’s where I developed my love of sports.

Well my memory is not what it used to be, but here is what I remember from that day.
First of all, traffic was a bitch.
I was able to get a photo with the team before the game. Thats me in the striped shirt, between the hitting coach (Mike Martin) and the recruiting coordinator (Augie Guarrido). The Head Coach (Wayne Graham) is on the right.
I got there late and my seats sucked! I was right behind the ESPN camera guy!
When they played the National Anthem, the whole team took a knee, which caused quite a controversy!
Hope this helps!
