“Alabama has zero business being in the top 5 with uncertainty at QB”

Then you remember Les Miles era at LSU.

Michigan #2…the same team that lost to TCU who got curb stomped by Georgia?

What a joke! Guess the coaches let their kids or secretaries vote for them.

Michigan #2

that was a major head scratcher to me. I figured it was a mortal lock that OSU would be #2 considering their season last year and the ridiculous talent they bring back. Michigan is one of those teams that despite making the playoffs last year just seems so "BLAH" from top to bottom. Like I don't fear them in any way, shape, or form whatsoever which is generally not something you'd say about a top 2 team.

Meatchicken's schedule is weak even for their standards. Half of their 2023 opponents finished with a losing record in 2023. It's a two-game season with Penn State and Ohio State, as usual. Of course, Michigan State could upset them in East Lansing in mid-October, which would be awesome.

Edited to include the schedule:
Sept. 2 - East Carolina
Sept. 9 - UNLV (3:30 CBS game; they left the SEC for this? lol frick 'em)
Sept. 16 - Bowling Green
Sept. 23 - Rutgers
Sept. 30 - at Nebraska
Oct. 7 - at Minnesota
Oct. 14 - Indiana
Oct. 21 - at Michigan State
Nov. 4 - Purdue
Nov. 11 - at Penn State
Nov. 18 - at Maryland
Nov. 25 - Ohio State

They also completely worked Ohio State on the road, who was a shanked field goal away from ending Georgia's season a game early. It goes both ways.

THE osu choked. Couldn’t stop a Georgia team that was better and determined not to lose. The Buckeyes have been whining like a spoiled 2 year old ever since that kick went wide.

Penn state is the most boring school every year. They always start out preseason top 15 and finish about there

Penn is only there to prop up the other overranked B10 teams. They’ll be 6-0 when they play OSU, maybe up to #10 ranking, who will probably beat them and then be “damn OSU beat #10 Penn St, they must be good!” PSU will win the next 2, then play Michi at 8-1, #16, and be another solid win for the B10.

Penn State's schedule is even softer than Michigan's. Just 5 of Penn State's 11 Power Five opponents had winning records in 2022. They avoid Purdue and Minnesota, who are expected to be the two best teams in the B1G West.

The schedule is going to bring the top 5 to a head in a hurry. Michigan is playing 4 sisters of the poor in a row. Dead meat. Georgia starts with UT Martin and Ball State. Meanwhile, BAMA will destroy the shorthorns in week 2.

That's where the rubber meets the road in the top 5.

when the actual poll, the AP poll

Not only do neither of these polls actually "matter" anymore since 2014, but the AP has REALLY not mattered since 2004. Once they were no longer a part of the BCS formula they truly were as irrelevant as an SEC rant user poll.

We had uncertainty at QB in 2016 and started the season #1 in both major polls. We also were preseason #2 in the polls going into 2011 with no clear frontrunner at the QB position.
