Probably not career suicide, just regular suicide. I honestly don’t think the guy could survive without Bama’s dick in his mouth 24/7.

Like him or not, his clients pay him to get them better deals. He does that very well. Good for him.

Wherever he goes, hopefully he takes his band of merry idiots with him. Those callers are awful.

I don't understand why ESPN even tolerates this fool. His show is garbage and he is almost as boring to listen to as MR. Rodgers

There is no way he would survive outside of Bama football. No other school has so many fans that devote their entire lives to just being a fan of a school. Bama fans literally sit around just to call PF and listen to him say what they want to hear.

There aren't enough of those fans at another school to keep him on air.

But if he leave, he won't be missed by anyone but Bama fans.

I don't think he'd be accepted by B1G audiences.

I think we’ll survive. Finebaum is trash. He’s not a Bama homer despite what everyone says. He’s a wave rider. The minute we start to suck again, he’ll dance on our grave like he did during the Shula era. He made his career off of stirring up Bama & AU fans. While he’s a decent interviewer, he’s not cut out to be the face of the SEC Network. His “this season/game is critical to this coach’s future” take gets old after a while.

This story is 100% a ploy by Finebaum because he’s desperate. I think ESPN has all of the leverage here. It’s not like the SEC Network would lose a significant amount of viewers if he left.

If AU had the success and the fans, they would certainly outstrip Bama. AU has more looneys that any fanbase in the country. Their Finebaum callers when he was in Ala rarely even talked about AU, it's all about Bama. AU's is a derivative program - their entire existence is in reference to Alabama. Bama's success has made some of them crazy, real sickos. Thrower, Green, Scott, et al. - conspiratorial idiots and/or totally delusional regarding Alabama.

His show is an unwatchable bumpkin fest. I have no idea how he became popular.

He got popular at a time when Bama was in turmoil and AU was winning. He successfully stirred the pot and became the main outlet for neck fans before social media. Finebaum could fill an entire show and pack the phone lines with some mundane topic.

I'm getting the impression ESPN is inclined to cease the SECN if they don't renew Paul's contract. There's a large void of air time to fill if you do not renew his contract.

They could change the SECN up to where it could be really cool. 10 hours of SEC Now gets pretty stale. They need to make it more like the old Turner South instead of being a mini version of ESPN.

Always thought they should have a live call in show late Saturday nights from a bar in a different SEC town each week during the season. Just take calls from fans that are still raw from the games that day. That would be appointment television. It would be like Live PD but for SEC football.

They could show replays of numerous classic SEC games from the 70's up til now.And if they wanna go the talk
show route there's numerous guys out there that would be more entertaining, more opinionated and have a far better grasp of what's going on in the SEC.

That would be entertaining but don't see how it would be much different than Finebaum's notorious callers that put his show where it is now. Finebaum gets a bad wrap on here I think, I find him to be pretty objective and knowledgeable. Not sure how getting rid of him helps the network.

But who is that? That's an honest question.
