In 05, the East only had #10 Georgia and #12 Florida. The West had #5 LSU, #8 Alabama, and #14 Auburn. An East team winning the ccg =/= being better the West. Unless you also think that the B10 was the best conference last season because a B10 team won it all.

It could be argued that they didn't lose as many because they were playing inferior opponents in the West, but I get your point. However, the West winning the conference the past 7 years or so is exacvtly why the argue the west is great and the east is inferior, so if they can make that argument, then I guess I can, too. However, we did win it 3 out of four years, so that indicates we were doing something right.

Besides....when I said 10 years I was referring more to a time frame rather than a specific year.

Just wanna jump in and throw some knowledge around.

Mizzou's loss to Indiana embarrassed the SEC

Sure. But I will say, Indiana was a weird team last year. Lost to Bowling Green...but took Ohio State down to the wire at the Shoe. Beat Mizzou, but got blown out by Rutgers. One of those weird teams who performs in big games, but not much in lesser ones.

Georgia 34-0

I'm glad you bring this up..because remember 38-20? Mizzou beat florida 42-13. Florida beat Georgia 38-20. Georgia beat mizzou 34-0. Georgia also lost to SC 38-35. Mizzou beat SC 21-20. Mizzou beat all the teams that georgia lost to in SEC play. It wasn't even a West thing, because we both went 2-0 against them. Georgia couldn't handle two of the weaker schools in SC and Florida. Missouri did.

I don't know if many people watched the 34-0 game, but it is almost entirely Maty Mauk's fault. Don't know what he was doing, but he had the worst game of his career. 4 Stupid picks, a fumble. The rest of the team played pretty well. Held Chubb to under 4 yds a carry. TOP was insane, 42-17 (minutes). In fact, I'm surprised we kept you under 35 points. With those stat lines, y'all should have put up at least 50.

Winning the SEC East isn't a big accomplishment.

I mean, it is the critical stepstone to the SEC Championship. To write it off would be ignorant and stupid. We may have overstated its importance...but it is critical for success nonetheless.

Rankings and BCS

Ah the subjectivity. This is where preseason polls help/hurt. This season for example, with all teams at 0-0, somehow Georgia over Mizzou gets an advantage for no real reason. Only expectations, which as we all know, are wrong a good majority of the time.

As for the BCS, we all know that system was flawed. Not to mention, Mizzou being snubbed out of BCS bowls.

I'm not going to stand here and pretend that Mizzou is a world-beater, because we aren't. We simply have outperformed the rest of the East the last 2 seasons when it counts. How it stacks up against the West, we'll never really know, but our record outside of SECCG's is pretty good.

Perform, and then you only have to worry about subjective rankings and committees.

How bad will Finebaum and Bammers melt when UT has some success and Bama on the sword

I really think Finebaum being hired by ESPN is so when Saban actually leaves the meltdown can be thrown onto his show and instantly be the number one show in America with the melting that will ensue.

You would be a liar if you said the Mizzou/Auburn game wasn't close. 42-59, and the scores to put it out of reach were in the closing minutes of the game.

AU had a ten point lead with nearly a quarter to go. Far from a nailbiter.

So your telling me that winning a division in the "best" conference in college football isn't a big deal. Ya'll say how no other top team in the power 5 can come over and compete in the SEC. The way some of you talk it would mean that 114 FBS teams are dog shite compared to SEC teams, even Vandy. It's such a tough conference........except for the East. Well shite, why don't the West just pack up their bags and leave us shitty East teams and start their own conference? They can drop Arky since they barely made a bowl last year and pick up Ohio St., Flordia St., Oregon, and OU. They'll be the ESPN Super conference. Then the SEC (East) title will be the mediocre title that y'all act like it is. Hell, why have a championship game? Just award the title to who ever wins the West.

This is a great idea, actually.

What top 25 programs did you beat last season?

I would say we lucked in last year. The 2013 was a solid team no doubt.

Missouri played well against Auburn in 2013 and had a very good team. Credit should be given to Missouri where credit is due. Pinkel does more with less. He does a very good job.

Agree completely,I've said the 2013 Mizzou team was completely legit but somehow this gets lost on some of the Mizzou lunatic fringe on this board.

in the middle of the 4th quarter we needed a score a stop and a score to take the lead.. guess that's never been done before, but yea it didn't seem like the game was out of reach.

This is called being reasonable. It's the same thing for us in 2011 and 2012. One team was good. The other wasn't and lucked in.
