act like this was a rebuild roster.

So losing all three assistant coaches to head coach jobs and all but 3 players to the pros or transfer portal isn't a "rebuild roster"? Oats team last year had two first round players, and teams before that had 1st and 2nd round picks. Not one player on this team is listed anywhere in a mock draft. This was a team of good players, many transfers from mid-major teams, who were coached up and played unselfishly as a team.

Harder to make it to the CFP.

Of the 120 or so college football teams, there are truly about 10 teams that can and regularly do make the college football playoff. Those good teams are stockpiled with great players and regularly lead in recruiting rankings. Basketball is different. There are about 350 teams, and if a coach can get 5 good players through transfer or old-fashioned development, that team can make a run - and they do. That's why last year you saw FAU and San Diego St in the Final Four and this year teams with no pro prospects like NC State and Bama make it. Getting through a run in the tournament does take great coaching, but a great coach and few good players can win in March.

They made it to the Final Four. They met good teams to get there. Of course, not as good as Oakland or North Texas State.

They had a great season.

In the age of the portal, there is no such thing as rebuilding. Well, I take that back. The mid majors that lose their top players to high D1 schools may be the only ones that rebuild.

It may be easier for the top four or five teams to make it to a four team CFP than the top four or five teams to make it to the final four. That's not what was said.

It's easier for a team like Alabama in basketball to make the final four. This can't be argued. They'd have no shot at a four team playoff with their regular season record. NC State would be playing in a minor bowl game. This really can't be argued. For the percentage of schools competing, the CFP is harder to make.
