I'm sure he wouldn't have had he known that nearly 6 years later diddydirtyAubie would still be up in arms about it.
I'm not...one of your boyz talked about how great of a disciplinarian Saban is and I asked why he allowed DJ to play in the 2nd half.

There are so many posters in this thread that are just worried about what Fanning is going to do to them over the next few years. The terror is palpable. That's why they are attacking his character.
Yea. I'm sure that's it.

no reasoning with someoe who makes self-serving assumptions with no evidence to support his/her postion. Im satisfied with what Fanning has done. Now the leauge can do what it will, if anything.
Ok buddy.
1.Player "apologizes" for dangerous hit.
2.Player posts image of said hit on twitter feed celebrating said hit casue it was cool"
Third party says "that doesnt seem like much of a sincere apology"
Thats not a self serving assumption, thats common sense.
Like I said, classy move by Saban and the program, not sold on it being an example of class by Fanning.

People fear things they do not understand. It's hard to grasp the concept of a guy with that much raw power, size, and athleticism being turned loose on their offense in a year or so. So their natural response is to demonize him.

Do you know for a fact that he put the photo up after he wrote the apology?

When saban starts recruiting choir boys on the defensive line instead of 6'7" 300 pounders, i'm sure they'll play nice.

conveniently leaving out the lone assumption in your post "Writing an apology that Saban told him to write"

Does not matter.
Did he all of a sudden feel sorry about it all on his own and decided to write an apology letter without being told to by Saban? If he was sorry about the hit it would never have sniffed his twitter feed.

It's pathetic you're willing to shrug off Fairley doing stuff like this week in and week out, and no one in your program ever apologizing for it

Did I ever say this. you seem to lack the grasp at what you and I started in this discussion and why

Well, if he felt contrite about the hit why would he celebrate it by posting it on his twitter feed?

I believe it was announced before the game that he was suspended for the game.
He was in full uniform before the game.
He wasn't suspended for the whole game, just the 1st half

I'm just proud of my team for handling this whole ordeal with class.

How do you know he was celebrating it? Heck, maybe he put it up there as a solemn memorial to the victim so that something like that doesn't happen in the future. We just don't know for sure. But we do know that he apologized. And I'm not so cynical that I look to discredit a young man for apologizing and trying to make it right. I guess some of you are though.

quote:They're still teaching it at Auburn High. AU's new player coming in next year shows the technique...
This is his tackling style that he learned at Auburn High. We are still trying to correct it.
In his high school highlights, he picks a kid up by his shoulder pads and starts playing whack a mole with him.
In the spring game, he made Yeldon look like a small child with a one handed get your arse back here tackle.
It's going to take some time and patience from you all, but it should be worth it in a year or two. He's going to be fun to watch.
Check out #2 at about the 1:08 mark.

Once again...let us, as you are doing, assume it is his feed. Then Let us assume that we are 19 years of age and we were playing football for a major university. Then lets assume we didnt play much. Finally we assume all our friends would like to see a picture of our playing time...Boom I wonder if we might post a picture that shows, not the pile drive, but 2 players sailing through space as he may have done

If Fanning were to send your RB some roses in a nice vase with chocolates would that count as a "genuine" apology?
