didn't that used to be called quoting things out of context and then adding one's own spin to it.
the phrase fake news has really gotten out of hand. it's like juvenile name calling and it astounds me that intelligent people buy into it.

We used to call news with a political agenda and little truth "propaganda" back in my day. Not accusing anybody in particular of doing it, just wanted to point out it is as old as news itself. And there is a word for it.
