UCF could play Notre Dame's schedule, and they'd still be watching the playoff with the rest of us.

I agree, that is definitely true. However, they'd have a lot more data to pass around and make a stink with than they do right now.

UCF joins an elite list

Minnesota
UCF
Northern Illinois
Rice
Utah
Oklahoma State

Alabama is a combined 0-8 against those schools! There's my frickin 6 team playoff right there.

Also

Villanova
Cumberland
Camp Gordon
New Orleans AC
Georgia Navy Pre-Flight
Carlisle Indian School

O-fer

The net effect would be the same. Right now, they can point to 25-0, a win over Auburn that last year's other national *champion didn't have, and the opportunity to get another win over an SEC team.

LSU needs to win this game, or UCF will be making some real headaches for people in 2019.

100% - if they beat LSU.........they have some serious ammo for 2019.

A&M
Auburn
LSU
Mississippi State
Ole Miss
Arkansas
Tennessee
Missouri
Georgia

At least six of these teams would go undefeated with UCF's schedule. That point is not even debatable. All of them would be bowl eligible.

Ummmm.... No. Just no. Nice try though

4 maybe. 6? Child please

And they'll have Stanford and Pitt next year.

But I also think they’ve gotten the top 4 teams right every year so far and until they screw up I’m not going to complain about it.

Wrong. They screwed up this season. Georgia is a top 4 team.

Bama
Georgia
Clemson
OU

4 best teams. Notre Dame is overrated. I don't ever want to hear the term "we put the 4 best teams in" again because it is BS. They put the 4 "most deserving" teams in. Georgia would have won every other conference championship.

Probably true but they'd be able to leverage that into a better bowl situation in the future. Boise St. was able to chip away at the institutional barriers by playing a mediocre schedule but being really good against the opponents on it.

As much as we all talk smack about x program falling out of the club, it's bullshite and we all know it. Brand names play a role in bowl selections and playoff selections and they always will.

There's a difference between the cupcake schedule ND had and the cupcake schedule UCF had and it's pretty damn big. That's what you're not acknowledging.

Agreed. People are railing on ND (and stupidly saying other CFP teams need to up their scheduling). Here's the truth about scheduling: it matters immensely and the committee puts a lot of stock into who you play. As they should.

After bowl selections, the 2017 and 2018 CFP teams had SOS rankings as follow in descending order:

26
16
14
10
6
5
3
2

UCF had SOS rankings at the same point in 2017 and 2018 of 66 and 71. But yeah, let them in for having one less loss with a tremendously easier schedule. Going undefeated with an atrocious schedule doesn't make you one of the best teams, nor does it give you the best resume.

Yep. I will also say, it sucks for those teams that they end up able to schedule big games once they've established themselves for 3-4 years, and then it feels like once they get those big games and the games come around their run has ended.

They are going to make a serious case for ACC Team of the Deacade once they beat Pitt against next year then beat UNC, GT and Louisville 2 times each over the next 7 years.

I love when subjective bullshite is passed off as an objective fact.

Here's the part where you say "you're just being intentionally obtuse" or some such nonsense to avoid admitting that it's nonsense.

I'd really like to see Joe Burrow get a bowl win, but I also want to see what UCF can do next year if they beat LSU.

If Milton was playing, along with Greedy and Fulton not playing, I'd heavily favor UCF. I'm sure the backup is talented, I just don't know enough about him to know if he can move it around on the remainder of LSU's defense.

The problem for LSU is they can be awful on offense against just about anybody. It's not like some past years where they can bully bad run defenses at the LOS. They need to just let Burrow go free. He's their best option as a runner at this point.
