The speed of the SEC sets them apart from the rest of college football.

That speed advantage gets negated when you’re sucking in wind breathing for your life.

Tennessee had zero speed advantage in the game last night. If you don't realize that Ohio State is as fast as any team in the country then take off your tinted glasses.

That advantage is gone with the wind in NIL/portal era.

It's easier to run in cold weather, colder air holds more oxygen

I’m not sure how we got so lucky as to run into this twice but we did and both times same result.

OSU is a poor example of a B1G team That’s why you’re good. Talent wise that was Saban’s BAMA and we got the good fortune of playing against you after a loss with everything on the line.

The cold didn’t kill us. The talent difference did. We give a better game at a neutral site or at home but we still lose that game.

Altitude harder acclimation than cold but it is a natural factor of human adaption. The northern boys aren't some special species. The human body will adapt to its climate given time (if the environment is in the habitable range). Army always had policies against record fitness tests within a certain acclimation window because of this fact.

Southern teams may want to find a friendly host within the region of their first round matchup if they're getting out of the sub-tropical environment. Go stay up there for a week or two while running your game prep.

Also, I wholly agree with this sentiment. Ohio State is THE most talented roster in the country. They spent good money on that roster for moments like this where they shove the whole stack into the middle of the table. That roster is not built on the backbone of rotel dip and hot dish eating Midwesterners. It's a roster with the best talent available in this great nation.

Tennessee has a roster build problem. They're spending big money on a QB who is not elevating their offense and consequentially are a bit talent poor at the skill positions on offense. Furthermore, they're just not good in the secondary.

This was a mismatch. Vols needed to run to win and Ohio State is fearsome up front. Additionally, Buckeyes were the best WR corp they've seen all season and that secondary got torched in the way DeBoer imagined he could have if not for Midroe.

Columbus was seven degrees colder than Knoxville at game time and 4 degrees colder this a.m.
Tennessee ran into a more talented and physical team that was pissed. That’s what got their butts kicked.

Think you misread that… He said “UtK”, not “UK”. On a side note, Fayetteville can get pretty damned cold after starting the season with games in the 90s-100s on the field and we have won some and lost some - lot of factors.

Just show how many players on the BIG teams come from the North as opposed to the South instead of a blanket teams from up North will do better in cold climate.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they had a good amount of Southern players on their rosters.

25 degrees isn't that cold. This isn't like going to Green Bay or Minnesota in the winter time.

Yea, as long as the wind isn’t whipping a calm clear cold night or a sunny cold day can be beautiful. It’s a mindset.

Maybe the likes of Tennessee should grow a pair. Ohio state's players are human beings and so are Tennessee's.

"It's COLD! UNFAIR! WAAHHHH!"

It's a pathetic excuse. Do you hear flatlander Big 12 teams whining about the thin air in Colorado?

Whoever runs long distance knows that it’s very easy running down south, especially in the winter.

As an actual long distance runner, I will argue that it's easier to run long distances in the cold than it is in the heat. The one and only time I ever ran 10+ miles in a single go was in NOVA, in February, in sub-freezing weather conditions.
