Going to law school in an economically booming area has made me numb to the words of those who haven't experienced things yet offer their insight on them.

I would never let anyone I loved move to BR. Too much crime, or at least there used to be.
Almost none of the violent crime is random

Jesus Texas is the size of many of your little states. We can have the deep south, the plains, the west and a chunk of Mexico all in the same border.
Just think, all that territory, and the best you've got are rattlesnake infested mountains and shitty brown sludge beaches.

Damn. I'm going to move my chalupa arse to Nashville just to help the cause. You hayseeds shouldn't be able to claim Nashville.

I won't defend the beaches, as they are shite. I ALWAYS bitch about Texas beaches after being raised close to Pensacola.
Fort Davis, Alpine and the Big Bend area are awesome though. If you have never been it is well worth going. Honestly you run into the snakes more further north in the plains part.

Lots of people from up north attend the law school that I do. They all have opinions on how New Orleanians and Southerners should do things regarding race relations, despite spending absolutely zero time down here and living in largely homogenous areas like New Hampshire and Minnesota.

They don't feel it, but Knoxville ties its existence to UT. Not sure about Lexington.

You consider Nashville the Deep South but not Monroe or the Arkansas delta?

I'm from Central Alabama and all of my Alabama friends would much rather go to Auburn than Tuscaloosa. Most only go to Tuscaloosa for football games, while the same ones usually go to Auburn on the weekends for the bar and party atmosphere.
These should be switched, IMO.
Auburn's nightlife is known for either Skybar or trailer keg parties. AU greek life and bar scene is horrible. It's Skybar or bust.

we didn't see the criteria that was used for ranking these towns, but I'm thinking that when I visit another town, food and drink are high on my list; Baton Rouge has an edge with fresh gulf seafood and Cajun cuisine and there is a bar on every corner.
Also, despite the SECR's insistence that LSU fans are the meanest, scariest fans EVAH, out of towners love to party with us pre and post game, and I have the hangover scars to prove it.

How can Lexington be so low?

Well damn. I can relate to you, and agree with you on this topic.

If Texas had good beaches and good mountains I'd already live there. I may check out Big Bend eventually. I also need cold water trout streams near by. I think my options are Broken Bow and some portion of the Guadalupe seasonally.
