Indeed it was very good. Still losing an all American RB who's probably one of the best pass catchers out of the backfield ever is gonna have an effect on an offense built like that one was.

Beat me to it. Kentucky ended your 36 game winning streak en route to rightfully the national champions that season. frick you Okie.
You don't lose your last game and get to be champs. And frick you too Tennessee. Your only loss was to a 4-7 Mississippi State team, ours was to a 10-1 Tennessee team.
THE Kentucky Wildcats - your 1950 national champions
Still can't believe Coach Bryant pulled that off. Guaranteed the Sugar Bowl he would win to get the bid. And then did it!
SMH! OU had not lost in forever and UK had played...count 'em...FOUR Non-1A teams in 1950. Had not beaten a 1A team with a winning record all year and had just lost to ut. Don't know why in hell he thought he could beat OU. And then did it!

Kentucky only played 3 non-IA teams in 1950, North Texas, Dayton and North Dakota. Cincinnati was University division and finished with a winning record.

Cincinnati did not become 1A until 1954. The 1950 UK schedule and results in my post were copied and pasted from this same website.

No, Cincinnati became "IA" in 1946 for the first time, then 1948-1981, then from 83 to present (the 82 and 83 seasons were altered by court dates).
As much as I've praised Howell's work, he doesn't use facts when calculating "I-A" teams, so it's pointless to look there for it.
You can find which teams were "I-A" by looking at the NCAA Record Book page 11 of this section. This tells you what teams have been "I-A". Cincinnati's entry:
Cincinnati 1946, 48-81, 83-present

es...but Bama did once lose to Vanderbilt by 78...that is equivalent to losing to anyone else by 100+.

According to that site only one (UK) of the twelve SEC teams was considered Major College (1A) from 1941-1945. Bull sh!t. I'll stick with Howell.

That "site" is the official NCAA designations. Stick with an opinion over fact if you like. The FACT is Kentucky faced 3 non-IA teams in 1950.
The war messed up the designations, and the starting in 1937 things were adjusted. After 1946, they are not only official, but not strange like during the war.
