In terms of power rankings, LSU06 is higher. Luck going against them played a HUGE role in the two losses they sustained. It doesn't take away from the overall quality of the team.
What kills Auburn for me in spite of their undefeated record is the lack of competition to rack up notable wins. And when they do face such a team, the outcomes were lackluster.
Auburn beat BCS competition by more than 25 twice.
LSU did it 4 times, with one of the games having a margin of more than 40.
If LSU06 drops out of the top 3, it is because of the argument that UF06 deserves to be there...not because AU should. In case you forgot, the main reason why you guys were left out of the title game in 04 was that your schedule was weak compared to the other two....

If you are going to argue from "what if's" and "they would's", I personally don't have time for it. It's meaningless and only comes across as blind homerism. If you want to debate facts, I'm all for it but some of the posters in this thread are not arguing from facts, they are arguing from speculation. You can speculate all you want, but the fact will still remain that this Alabama team was the most accomplished SEC team of the last decade and, therefore, the BEST.

I'm pretty sure that's not in the criteria of the list. It's not a list of who would beat who. It's a list of team's ranked from 1-10, 1 being the highest accomplishments to 10 being the lowest.

I understand that, I was simply pointing out to BenchMcElroy, he wasn't as objective as he thought. He almost always gets his facts wrong and I was making a point to correct them.

The best program of the decade is definitely debatable. However, the best team, accomplishments wise is not. Alabama ran the gauntlet undefeated, won the SEC Championship by 20+, and won the National Championship. It's very hard to argue they weren't the team of the decade in the SEC, unless you're wearing homer glasses.

Agree totally with your post. Impossible to compare teams, however, not its accomplishments.
Just like it's easy to see that Lsu and Florida were the dominant teams of the decade. Hopefully Bama will be in the mix for the next decade now.

And fwiw.. Va Tech, may have been better than Lsu this year. So saying we had no difficult teams before yall is silly.

I agree. The only thing that holds Va. Tech back every year is getting a big head. Every year they start out in the top 8 and then slip. The ACC is putrid, and they think they're going to run through everyone, and they have a hick up or 2 each year. We all saw what they can do though when they feel they're going to be challenged. Just look at their games against Miami and Tennessee.
