Bama might not have lost, but head to head, that doesnt mean jack if the 2 teams would have played. Even with LSU's loss, LSU in 2003 was a much more dominating team than Bama was in 09 as a whole. The SEC was better top to bottum in 03 as well from what I remember

I root for Alabama just like you but I'm being objective here. '08 Florida crushed teams last year. They beat teams by an average margin of 30.7 PPG. For comparison's sake, Alabama only beat two teams by over 30 this year (North Texas and UT Chattanooga). I have '03 LSU ranked ahead of us because their defense was even better then ours and were more explosive offensively.

2003 LSU > Bama 2009
2007 LSU < Bama 2009
Even though I think 2007 would win on the field.

Bama beat an NCAA record TEN teams that went to bowl games this year. There is not a thing you can say that could legitimize the idea that 03 Lsu would have beaten 09 Bama

I base my rankings on who would beat who. I don't give a damn if the 72 dolphins went undefeated, the 09 Bama team would wreck them completely. As would most elite programs now.

The defense was very similar and offensively Auburn had a far more powerful offense than Bama. That offense if turned lose was just amazing. Campbell had over a 200 passer rating on 3rd downs, no QB in the SEC the last 10 years has come close to that. And no way 2008 UF team should be ahead of the AU 2004 team, you could make the argument for Bama, though that game would have likely gone to AU had they played head to head, the UF team wouldn't have stood a chance.

08 UF lost to Ole Miss and needed a 4th quarter comeback to beat Bama in the SEC championship game. 2009 Bama defense was better in many categories than the LSU defense. I listed them all out in a thread a while back... aNd they managed to lose to a 7-5 Florida team at home.

'08 Florida beat us without Harvin dude. Obviously this year's team is better in a lot of ways then last year's team but don't act like Florida was playing with a full deck of cards last year. If '08 Florida played '09 Alabama, Harvin would have made one or two big plays just like he did against Oklahoma to win them the game.
