Probaby only thing screwed this season is Cam Newton's heisman chances.

There were multiple witnesses in the Means case including numerous schools coming forward following the initiation of the investigation.

Fulmer is the fall guy that is easy for Alabama to target, but even Means HS coach's assistants were ratting him out.

If Newton is declared ineligible, which could happen in a matter of days

IMO, the only way this happens is if he comes out and admits that the allegations are true. Don't see that happening

Per ESPN..

It is not illegal to ask for money or anything, but when you receive anything you are ineligible

He'll be ineligible by the iron bowl if not before. The fire has arrived. Once they publicly play those tapes (and I'm guessing they will before the Iron Bowl). I think Jacobs has to step in at that point and say enough is enough. Yes this season is screwed but don't think the NCAA won't hammer them twice as hard if they let him finish the season after the public hears those tapes.

Exactly. This is the most intense ncaa investigation ever that I can remember. I sure as hell never remembering the FBI involved in anything before

They are saying they are expecting nothing will happen. The FBI can find that money trail tomorrow morning and he can be ineligible by lunchtime

Word on the street is that UT and Kiffin may have some explaining to do in this matter as well.

Stay tuned folks!

I don't think they will allow the tapes to be played publicly in the middle of such a high profile investigation.

Means was never to see a dime of that money. The coach who "handled" him was. I think.

i think it's funny that the call was recorded while talking to a recruiter from miss state.

Mullen taped the calls

Wouldn't that just be amazing? I mean, here's UT, already bitch-slapped once by Kiffin, and now they could be smack-dab in another NCAA investigation. I don't hate UT, and would feel downright sorry for them if this is true

Hearsay without tapes. Phone records won't mean shite in this...only content of calls will matter.

If the person or persons who heard the statements confirm them, it isn't hearsay, technically- the statements would be likely be admissions against interest and therefore admissible.

If all we have is that a source said that someone told them Cam and Cecil made those statements, it is hearsay. But hearsay is a technical rule of evidence for courts, not applicable outside of court proceedings.

I acutally hope these allegations aren't true, despite the fact that I am an LSU fan. Cam is a talented football player. It would be a shame to see that talent wasted. However, if the allegations are true, it is fairer to everyone that the truth be confirmed as soon as possible since the ramifications, including legitmacy of the conference division championship and potential conference and national championship are so huge, not just for Newton and Auburn, but for the other teams whose position is directly affected.

No link, just something I heard from someone who has been bang on about everything Cam related in the last week. And not somebody on the internet.

If the UT-Kiffin connection actually exists, could the NCAA punish Kiffin himself, even though he is now at another program? That'd be awesome It'd be cool to see USC get slapped again too
