Ole Miss and Missouri get B+'s
Arkansas gets a C

Florida State, Rutgers and Washington all get A's

What say you?

I had been worried whether or not we made the right hire or whether we were dooming ourselves to another decade of being dead last in the SEC.

This has lifted my spirits immensely. Knowing that ESPN hates our hire has me feeling pretty darn good about it.

I say we should wait until halfway through next season before we start grading coaches.

This is a reasonable position.

Therefore, it is soundly rejected by this board.

I can’t stand coaching grades for coaches who haven’t coached a single down yet and I can’t stand draft grades for players who haven’t played a single down yet. This stuff is inane.

ESPN is a cultural and financial disaster.

Arkansas too high.

Mizzou might be a littie high. If Drink had more than one season at Appy State to judge the hire on I'd say B+ is fair.

Ole Miss grade seems fair.

Maybe, but those grades are hard to argue.

They gave you a C. Most would agree that Pittman is a D at best.

The hell if they are.

Missouri just hired a guy from the sunbelt who inherited a Cadillac and maintained it for one season.

I'm not gonna go any farther than that. No need.

It's way too early to grade these coaches and that is the simple truth.

Well, part of the metrics used were the hiring process. Arkansas sucked it up on that end as well.

We will see I guess. Most publications graded Chad Morris hire as a B/C. Surely Pittman cannot do worse to lose to Colorado States; San Jose States and North Texases of the world.

Go look at the 2017 hire grades. I think they had Frost with the highest grade, Chip Kelly 2nd, Taggart 3rd, Moorehead was tied with Mullen and both Chad morris and Matt luke were rated ahead of several hires. Not saying theyre always wrong on these things but they definitely can be.

Who beat who for a coach?

Washington already had their guy, with no competition.

Nobody was trying to get Schiano away from Rutgers.

It looks like Florida St and Ole Miss were the only 2 to beat out other schools for the services of their new coach.

Pittman is the next Coach O. Arky wins a SEC championship by 2022

Even beating those teams and getting thrashed in the SEC would still constitute the D grade.

(Chad Morris)

That's why his 22 game coaching tenure in Arkansas is an F.

You're half correct.

What happened is FSU beat out Ole Miss for their coach and Ole Miss didn't beat anyone out for theirs. Ole Miss got saddled with a bad hire by Arkansas. Much the same as how Arkansas saddled Auburn with a ridiculous contract extension a couple years ago.

Arkansas playing 5D Trumpian Chess.
