I would say:
S Car
Bama
LSU (if their offense was better, their D stats would be)
FL

The reason I put SC in front of Bama is this:
The stats that matter the most to me for just how good a D is are scoring, tackles for loss, sacks and 3rd down conversion.
Due to SC playing one more game, and the fact that 50% of the TD's allowed (avg 1 per game) came in garbage time agaisnt the scrubs, I give them a slight advantage there. Bama clearly has the ypg advantage, but yards mean nothing if points aren't scored. And SC has a huge advantage in sacks (of course having played one more game helps that, but the difference is still pretty high).
So, very slight advantage to SC.

What's interesting about this stat is nearly half of UF's sacks (4) came in their last game alone, versus LSU. Prior to that game, they had 5 total sacks, compared to USC having 22 prior to UGA. At the time, Clowney had more sacks than the entire UF defense....

USC essentially did not gameplan to rush the QB versus East Carolina...their passing style made it almost pointless, as the ball was thrown so quickly after the snap, that our DEs would not stand a chance at getting to him. So we basically didn't even try: we only got one TFL - which was a sack - from one of our reserve DEs after the game was already decided.

So all of the total TFL and sacks - with the exception of one - came from the other 5 games...

Bama
UF
USC
LSU

They are the 4 best defenses in college football IMHO.

No, its not if you've watched UF play defense throughout the past 2 years under Muschamp.

He does not like blitzing. Period.

He'd rather rush 4 and drop everyone else into coverage. Hence the low sack numbers.

But UF is #2 in the Nation in Defensive Pass Efficiency.

Really, the LB's and Secondary have been the story of the UF defense thus far. Coming into the season, it was supposed to be the defensive line, but they've underproduced relative to expectations.

You have to hate those garbage TDs...

All of these defenses are good at different things, I would say Alabama's 16 is alot, they have played 5 games yes, but in the game against Michigan the object was not to let him run rather just take away the lane and force him to throw it, so there wasn't a great threat for him being sacked, DE or OL just kept contain, Alabam has a very good pass rush this year, so does South Carolina, and LSU both have incredible defenseive ends. Florida plays much more like Bama where QB pressure is not of great importance just play your specific role, and things will work out.

South Carolina: 6 in six games (One touchdown came with a 41-3 lead on East Carolina in the fourth quarter. Another came with a 31-3 lead on Missouri with 17 seconds left, and a third came with a 35-0 lead on Georgia with 1:55 to play)

Florida: 13 (none in the fourth quarter)
Alabama: 21 (7 in the fourth quarter)
South Carolina: 27 (21 in the fourth quarter)
LSU: 34 (27 in the fourth quarter)

Here's another defensive stat, with national rankings per FBS:

Red-Zone Defense:

3. Alabama: 4 scores in 7 drives (4 TDs)
9. South Carolina: 9 scores in 14 drives (4 TDs, 5 FGs)
73. Florida: 10 scores in 12 drives (7 TDs, 3 FGs)
115. LSU: 10 scores in 10 drives (8 TDs, 2 FGs) - (tied for last in FBS with several)

Looks like if you can get to the 20 yd line or closer against either Florida or LSU, you stand a VERY good chance of scoring, and even scoring TDs as opposed to FGs....
