The bullet would have been letting Penn State headshot our best season in decades.

But i was enjoying all the speculation that somehow Elko was leaving A&M.

I’m a huge Elko supporter from following him at Duke, but he hasn’t won anything anywhere to justify being a top 5 paid coach at this point in his career.

But frankly I’d be less concerned with short term pay scale than whatever his buyout number is if it goes south in a few years.

whatever we think about the stupidity of the Jimbo extension. A&M brass were not going to let something jeopardize the rest of this season. look at what is happening to ol miss. look what happened to us with Schloss and Buzz williams (though buzz had kind of hit his peak). there was just simply no way they could sit back.

A six year contract on leaves 3-4 years if buyout.

So that would be 44M tops. He's not being fired in the next two season.

Based on the current buyout market, I would say this is fair.

A&M signed Elko originally to a contract that was significantly less than that nonsense Jimbo was making. And Jimbo has won a National Title.

But it’’s all Monopoly money now. You could probably find 25 coaches salaries that are not justified.

What about Brian Kelly’s salary being justified? Or Lincoln Riley? James Franklin? Steve Sarkisian? Lane Kiffin? Deion Sanders? None of them have won anything of significance yet.

Every new contract is the highest paying contract it seems.

He'd be an idiot to leave A&M..he's got them rolling and A&M has more resources.

By the time the carousel is over this year, he won’t be a top five

Elko is still unproven. You don’t just win 9-10 games one season and be one a superstar. He’s got a long long way to go before he could be considered one of the better head coaches.

Elko is unproven. Like I said, I'm not sure A&M wanted to do this yet for that reason, but the current coaching market forced their hand. And $11M might be T10 by the time this carousel is finished, not T5. An additional six years is WAY better than the 10 years guaranteed for Fisher.

Elko turned A&M around in less than 2 years after the mess Jimbo made. He's worth the money.
