Either way, the SEC has historically played by far the toughest schedules in all of CFB.

It helps that the Big 6 are charter members.

Well how much you care is still infinitely more than the number of trophies you have in your case from the AP/UPI... which is zero.

If 64 doesn't count for Arkansas then 42 doesn't count for Georgia. Can't have it both ways.

Forget the bottom 11 and just look at the SEC. Why have Tennessee and LSU played so few games against the nation's better programs? I mean that gap is pretty gigantic.

I know if you include Texas A&M, Arkansas, and Ole Miss, then LSU's numbers would increase significantly.... but you have to think the others in the SEC would see an increase as well.

We get a nice boost from playing FSU. They finished top 5 like 15 years in a row.

Because:
Auburn always played UGA, Bama, and UF every year back in the day

Tenner consistently played UF, Bama, and UGA

Bama consistently played AU, tenner, and LSU

uga consistently played AU, Tenner, and UF

UF consistently played AU, tenner, and UGA

We only consistently played Bama and UF really. And even UF doesnt date that far back

However, your system has a major flaw. We used to play Ole Miss consistently in the 50s and 60s, when they were good. However, you dont get credit for that here

Also, playing army in the 10s-50s would have been the top dog SOS wise, and yet you wouldnt get SOS credit in your system. You would get more credit for playing Celmson in 1940 than you would playing Army, and Army was 10x as good

Good work, but that is a pretty big flaw

6 charter members in the top 15. No other conference comes close.

ACC: Clemson
Big 8 - Nebraska, Oklahoma
Big 10 - Michigan, Ohio State (not charter but still)
Pac 12 - USC
independent - FSU, Miami, Notre Dame

True. But should anyone get a SOS boost for beating terrible FSU teams from the 50s-early 80s?

That is the one flaw he has with his system, and its a rather large one. If he redid it I think the big 10 would fare alot better

Also, think about ND. They played army and navy 57 times before 1950, which were two of the premier programs.

They are getting no "elite matchups" for that in this system

Kerry would've been of the GOATs if not for his motorcycle accident.

32 with 3 National Championships in the last 40 years is.
31 with 0 National Championships in the last 50 years isn't.

I agree. That's why I didn't count '42 for Georgia.

True. But you are getting credit for all those times you played Florida prior to 1990 when they were nothing.

Well thats my point really

Not getting credit for playing army, navy, Minnesota etc back in the day while getting credit for playing miami and others seems very flawed

Maybe not.

But I think Clemson has proven they are worth being counted as Elite. They've won 3 National Titles since 1981 and played for one more.

UCLA has don nothing in a generation.

Yes the number of Top 25 finishes are close, but to me the last 40 years means more than 60-100 years ago does.
