Jack of all trades, master of none
*sigh*
Belle Watling in "Gone with the Wind" was based on Belle Breezing, who was probably the most famous madam in the USA. Her early house was near modern day Transylvania and her last house was near the old Kentucky Association track near modern day Race Street. The entrance to Keeneland was salvaged from the old track and most do not know the origin or history

I think it depends on the production and $$$$
Was on set for a big budget pic and they had 4 different caterers and one just did soup for the principles.
Been on lots of low budget Indies and it really can be a bit on the thrifty side.
If you get some time on set, make friends first with craft services then find out who caters the union folks, they have the best food!
It was Denzel Washington. It was at NTC in the California desert at a Burger King. My 1st day in California. We got in around 4am, slept to noon. Woke up, went to get something to eat and he was in line in front of me. I think I've been in California for about 9 or 10 hours total at this point.
I'm thinking he was doing research. He was wearing an opfor uniform, which isn't something he would have worn in the movie. His name tag said Washington, but I bet there was probably at least 1 other black guy in that line with the same last name.
The movie was Courage Under Fire with Meg Ryan, so I assume not low budget.
I don't think they were shooting the movie at the time. One of the things that threw me off was that his hair was longer and curly than what you see in his movies(Crimson Tide was the movie on the plane ride). He looked more like Deion Sanders.
NTC is kind of like a practice deployment and kind of like a top gun, for lack of a better word as everyone does it every 2 years, for tanks and ground units. His role in that movie was a TC. I was a tanker, but I never saw him again after that day.

I was just a PA. But that included chauffeur for the director, local guide, errand boy, and carrying camera batteries through the wilderness and rice patties before lithium was used..... they called them "bricks", basically a backpack full of lead. The entry they gave me on IMDB is unique enough that I would dox myself if I shared it. I don't think anyone on IMDB would have this job title.

Did you mean to respond to deeprig? I was not doubting your story, just trying to suggest reasons why it would fit the narrative.

I just figured I'd give more details for clarification since there was speculation.

Yeah, I have done that sort of work on multiple sets. I think half the time they hired me as I was on set by 3am and weather was not an issue for me. The other half the time they just have me tell stories and assign some meaningless job description.
I was not a career guy, just one offs doing a job but it is a small world and they called me back a lot. Nice work if you can get it. Looking back tho, best job on the set is "stand in", you get principle perks but can remain totally unknown.
I have actually been in several movies that made the big screen (did not get lost on the cutting room floor) but it is usually my thumb or butt.
PA on 1st unit is a pretty good gig. I think the PA's on the lesser units had more fun tho.

We met Kevin Costner in May in a small town on the Utah/Arizona border.
He was with a group looking for a location for a new film. We met him in a small Mexican restaurant.
He was the next table over. I heard his voice and told my wife, I think that’s Kevin Costner. Super friendly guy. He visited and took lots of pictures with the locals.
We were just passing through on vacation.

No, it served Mexican food and had seating capacity of 30 people or so.

Not as funny as Jared Goff on Last Chance U competing against the QBs in practice pretending to be a walk on or transfer but pretty good.

I am told that her original house is the Transylvania storage shed for the baseball team. Not sure if that is true.
We do have a Bourbon Bar that bears her name.
She's a bit of a local folklore hero for her setting up orphanages.
