I'd say being an SEC East school is going to have some draw too. You don't really have a dumpster fire, you just need someone to come in and get the team moving in the same direction. More than anything, I think this will impact your recruiting

Might as well have just said "Kiffin to Mizzou."

Pinkel is at $4.1M. Top-20 money right there.

And he's the all time win leader with a 117-71 record, and has gone 6-4 in bowls. But to be fair, he's also Toledo's all time win leader as well.

About the best I can give you on this one is that he's probably earned his money better than Kirk Ferentz.

How is South Carolina more desirable? They have a FAR worse history than Mizzou. They were competitive for 3 years.

How is SC a better destination?

Honestly, I'd be OK with that but it would never happen. Kiffy will probably end up at Miami as a better culture f it.

I hate to blow a huge hole in your theory here but you realize there is no reason at all any of the current coaches may not just go out find a new job, esp Kuligowski who could easily get a DC position somewhere.

I don't disagree w/ your overall message though, the only D1 program in at least a better than average state to recruit in, hell even Pinkel could luck into enough talent to win some there.

Did USCe's team cause Spurrier to quit out of embarrassment?

edit: I mean off-the-field embarrassment.

Well, their football team isn't threatening to forfeit games because of a dude yelling a mean word at a student 3 weeks prior.

That's a start.

Better weather. Better fans. Better support. Better stadium. Fewer SJWs. Stronger admin.

I'm trying to think what Mizzou has to offer right now.

I don't think a coach wants to go to a school that is run by the students

I don't think the Mizzou fans on this board realize how badly that strike shite fricked them going forward.

Terrible year for a program like Mizzou to be in the market for a coach.

Plus a coach will be weary of stepping into that social circus.

What makes you think we're below South Carolina and Virginia Tech? Explain....

VT, well that's obvious.

SC, while historically an absolute travesty of a program does have some nice things going for it after what spurrier has done and they have a more fertile recruiting ground. Not to mention their state/city isn't a national laughing stock right now so that will undoubtedly help.

And who you're willing to outbid with at least one other SEC opening with USCe, Southern Cal, Miami, and some NFL openings as well.

Bingo, Belle hit the nail on the head. The problem isn't that Mizzou won't splash the cash on the right hire, the problem is some really big programs are going to be doing the same thing. Its going to be a lousy year to be looking to land the hot coach.

And our team isn't threatening to quit either. In fact, the black students threatened for one day, the hunger strike ended, the team resumed practice, and despite the bullshite and distractions the Mizzou team still beat a strong 7-2 BYU team.

I think the new coach will be hard pressed to do more with less as well as Pinkel has done.

Too many open positions at big schools this year. Mizzou should just wait a year and pick Sumlin up on waivers.

Until the next black student hears somebody disagree with them and goes on a hunger strike to get the Dean of English canned and the players decide to join in again.
