Exactly. Runs, catches, blocks, leadership. They take everything a rb does into account, as they should.

Most of us are just indifferent about Tennessee. They get a lucky win every now and then, but they’re irrelevant. They’re not good enough to hate.

Deborer ain't beating the Vols anytime soon. Pur recruiting under Heupel is only getting better and better.

It looks at the best player playing primarily RB.
When Darren McFadden won the award, it took his passes into account as well out of the wildcat position.
It also takes into account return yards for RB's who fill that role as well.
Yes, if Sampson motions out and ends up lining up in the slot rather than the backfield and makes a catch, those stats count for him as well even though he technically lined up at WR on that play. If it takes the ball on a reverse from that position it counts as well.
This is like Brock Bowers winning the Mackey award despite not actually lining up next to the OL on every play. He lined up in the backfield, the slot and alone out wide in addition to in the traditional "Tight End" position. But that was his primary role, so he was in the Mackey award running instead of for the Billetnikoff or Doak Walker award. His rushing yards and receiving yards out of the slot and out wide still counted.

Sampson is the 2nd best RB I have seen this season. He is terrific and belongs on this list.

I never expected him to win, just odd he wasn’t a finalist. Next years Vols rushing game is likely to be split between Lewis and Bishop with a 3rd guy being brought along. It would have been nice to see him rewarded for an amazing season.
